I have no idea who Catherine or Mr. Elliott are. I know of a Libero named "Cat", and COACH Jerritt Elliott, a title he has earned. Catherine Anne McCoy At least one of her teammates call her Catherine. I love that name. Had an aunt with that name. Many called her Caddy. I thought it more respectful to call her Catherine. Mr. Elliott is not a disrespectful title. I do for the most part reserve the use of the title coach for individuals who have impressed me over the years with their extraordinary skills and success. I am impressed with his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. Tough classes. I have been curious about how he got his in to coaching. Former VB players that have had much success on the court have always been special for me. I never felt Mr. Elliott earned a high grade with his playing credentials. Have seen him play. IMO Texas could do much better. It was so sad when I saw my dream coach Salima Rockwell retire. I understand that many players and fans love Mr. Elliott. That same love affair also exists with a whole lot of other teams and their coaches. Sorry if I at all offend the coach Elliott tribe. Maybe one his fans could help me with might be a mistake in Mr. Elliott's bio. Texas sports has written: "Elliott played collegiate volleyball at Pepperdine in 1986-88." Pepperdine won the national championship in 1986. I do not see Mr. Elliott in the team photo or his name listed on the roster for that year. I do wish Mr. Elliott well. After all, Texas is the home team, for now. Hahahahaha, youre going to drive Southie and his stooges nuts about the 'lost years' and his arch rival SportsYucky will stay up all night googling.

Can any Texas fans talk about how they expect Brionne Butler to play next season. She really struck me as the next great middle coming into college.

I expect Butler to be very similar to Alhassan as a freshman although I think her blocking is not as far along, but her offense is better. I cannot wait to see her play!

Lying on your resume can land you in jail, get you fired, or leave you without legal recourse against an employer. Next time you’re tempted to add a bit of “harmless” resume padding, ask yourself if it’s really worth it.

Southie will get with Christine and clear this matter up and report back to the rest of us sitting on the edge of our commode seats biting our nails ... meanwhile SportsYucky is working on a theory that the missing year was critical in his coaching/player develoment as it pertains to Texas not recruting a Carlini calaber setter as he trys to link Elliott's old man to the Dallas grassy knoll crew ... stay tuned.

They're a lot of wolf in sheep's clothing on this thread. "Texas is great, except......" Well, it makes some people happy to and this is a free forum. Being a Longhorn, I'm a cynical and not a rah-rah type of fan. So, it's reader beware, I suppose.

Southie, you might actually be killing me. 😳 I know you saw my post asking you what more you may know about this subject. The radio silence is duly noted, but do tell! Or or at least give some more mysterious hints.

In other news, I would like to hear opinions on the general strength of the Texas lineup for 2018.
Why do I instinctively feel like we are in a " rebuilding " phase when we have absolute cannons *returning* on the front row, let alone bringing on O'Neal? A question was asked about Butler, but not a lot was said. How good *is* her offense? Her defense? Is it a given that she will start over O'Neal? Or do folks in the know think otherwise?
How realistic is it that one of the 447 middles on the roster can play on the pins? This has also been briefly discussed, but somehow I want more.
And is anyone willing to lay odds on who will start at Libero now that Zelon is out of the mix?

Physical specimen deluxe. Very explosive, dynamic middle. Truly a big jumper that I thought would be much needed late in last years season. Was one of the reasons Texas was ranked #1 to start the season. Texas was going to have depth and match up strength. Chiaka and company did take her to blocking school in the Orange White spring exercise. Brionne was just a bit over anxious at the net. The middle has to see the big picture and read it well. Now, she has had a year and two very good middles to learn from. With Morgan, under rated by many, still at Texas she will have continued on the court guidance. Another big blocking year for the horns is possible. If Texas can get consistent quality first touches Brionne is likely to score with what the Texas fans crave. A faster offense.

And one more question...The Texas website lists Westerlund as a "redshirt sophomore". Does this definitively mean that she is a scholarship recipient? Oddly, there are other players who I know redshirted that are not listed in the same way. For example, White is simply listed as a "junior".
Forgive my chattering...we are in the dark time (offseason) and I am bummed.

Can't really tell much till ya see a freshman come on the floor with next level players in person. Quite sure that my preference for libero right now will not be the selection. First Team All-District in 2013 and 2014...named Defensive MVP in 2013 and 2014...played with Skyline Juniors as a three-time defensive award winner...named Defensive MVP her junior and senior seasons...received the Skyline Legend Award. She is not on the roster for 2018. Thank you Natatlie. Loved watching you play. Front line is again loaded with options.

Wow. Gilbert is off the roster. I didn't notice. That is depressing.

Was the offense to the middles that slow this year? Looks like you're a Gator fan. What do you think? I heard from many that thought the fast offense was not there. Personally, I observed a faster offense being run to the middle this year with Chiaka and out of the back row as well. I may have had an advantage of watching Mr. Elliott work with the setters practicing fast opportunities. What some thought as being bad sets to the outside hitters was at times intentional low sets to get to the hitters quickly. The success of a faster game is reliant upon good passing to the setter. That was not consistent. Texas needed a Caroline Knop. By the way, have been a huge Mary Wise fan forever.
