This is true but she airmails lots of serves out of bounds. You have to look at overall effectiveness. When Densberger and Atherton turn up, they have the most difficult serves to pass in the Husker gym. There’s no question Atherton has a very good serve but it needs to be in the field of play. Densberger needs lots of work.

The 2017 team will be remembered, in part, for its serving, and the stats you posted wouldn’t lead someone to believe that. Thankfully, the team’s service game is more nuanced than the simple numbers you pulled from Huskers.com that allowed you to make an incorrect conclusion about Atherton’s serve in the first place. There is a reason why Atherton was pulled from serving multiple times this year. 1 service error ever 4.5 serves is really bad effectiveness. Yes the Huskers serve was big part of their success but that was more because of others on team. For example, Maloney made huge strides serving from beginning of year to end of year. Actually, it was Densberger who would get pulled and replaced by Atherton whenever she started to let teams off the hook by lollipopping her serves. Cook wanted Atherton and Densberger to be relentless behind the service line.

It is kind of interesting to look at the serving statistics in terms of aces and errors per serve. | Aces/Serve | Errors/Serve | Total Serves | Foecke | .076 | .086 | 513 | Maloney | .074 | .084 | 499 | Albrecht | .064 | .040 | 528 | Hunter | .055 | .065 | 495 | Townsend | .049 | .068 | 453 | Atherton | .082 | .220 | 159 | Densberger | .033 | .079 | 304 |
For aces/serve, a higher number is better and for errors/serve, a lower number is better. Atherton has the best number in the ace column, but it is only a slight advantage over Foecke and Maloney. Atherton has by far the worst number in the error column. It's hard to see how the combination of the two translates to calling Atherton an "effective' server during the 2017 season. IMO these numbers clearly show that Albrecht was the most effective server for Nebraska this season. She is at the mid-point for aces and has by far the best number in the errors column.

When Densberger and Atherton turn up, they have the most difficult serves to pass in the Husker gym. Problem was that they were off a lot of the time. I know we serve aggressively and service errors happen but they were off too much when that was their only job Nah, the team could afford the risks. Also disagree about your perception of Atherton and Densberger’s “only job” on the team was to serve, because it discounts their other strong contributions in the serving specialist role. Remember these sparks from Densberger? 😎

How would you know that since you just registered in December of this year. Someone has multiple accounts? Huskerjen turning over an old leaf? Huskerjen wouldn't have multiple accounts.

The Huskers, nor most teams, rate servers by aces and errors. They chart the opponent's pass on each serve and calculate it that way. It's not public data. Although if someone wanted to watch each match and chart all the serves they could approximate it decently.

I don't have NU's proprietary numbers but my guess is Albrecht, Maloney, and Hunter were the team's top servers in the second half of the year in terms of running points on their serves.
Seems like Maloney served runs of 4-5 points in each match in the NCAA tournament.

I'm glad I don't have the responsibility of coaching the Huskers; and I'm glad no you guys don't either! Cook is the man! Cook wants the girls to serve aggressively and realizes that causes service errors! What I really want is for the new team to jell like this season's team did! Go Big Red 2018! Gotta love Husker volleyball!! GO HUSKERS

This clip ended exactly like The September Issue when Coach Cook asked the camera crew “What else?” and smiled. I am convinced that John Cook is the freakin’ Anna Wintour of women’s college volleyball. Both are intimidating to the masses from afar, known for being demanding and blunt, but they’re respected and influential for pioneering and growing their respective industries. Neither is well liked by ppl who don’t matter, but they’ve helped, nurtured, and advised the careers of some of the country’s best talents. Like the way Anna owes her success to Grace Coddington and Tonne Goodman, Cook has Tyler Hildebrand and Kayla Banwarth to thank for their contributions.

Huskerjen turning over an old leaf? Huskerjen wouldn't have multiple accounts. Really? Why wouldn't she? Also, why did Louboutin like your post?
