Right now Hames has 0 experience in leading the Huskers! Cook will evaluate the players during practices. He will decide what is right for opening day; and throughout the year! Hunter is a good server; so I am sure she will see playing time! GO HUSKERS I don’t think Atherton is a good server at all. Some serves are very good and tough to handle but she can’t keep half of them inbounds. She was bad enough that she was replaced by Densberger but Densberger was even worse. If Hunter can clean up her consistency issues, she will be a very effective server. I would be willing to bet that she improves next year in this regard! Cook rates Atherton and Densberger as the team’s best servers. Cost-benefit analysis makes me agree with our coach and not you.

Hunter is equally likely to serve one into the band as she is to land one in the 30x30 square on the other side of the net. I wouldn't classify that as good serving. When she can be more consistent in keeping it between the lines then we can talk. Were you watching the same tourney? Big runs were made on Hunters serve and her placement was pretty impressive in matching Johns requests. I watched her all year and the stats for the season prove my assessment correct. But you're correct in that she served well, at times, in the tournament. Cook has also gone on record as saying even Hunter doesn't know where the ball is going off of her hand so I wouldn't say "placement" is a strong point of her serve. ## SERVE (by SA) S SA SE TA Pct SA/Set 2 Foecke,Mikaela 125 39 44 513 .914 0.31 11 Maloney,Kenzie 125 37 42 499 .916 0.30 17 Albrecht,Annika 125 34 21 528 .960 0.27 3 Hunter,Kelly 116 27 32 495 .935 0.23 7 Townsend,Sydney 125 22 31 453 .932 0.18 10 Atherton,Hunter 52 13 35 159 .780 0.25 These aren't good numbers.43 Densberger,Hayley 85 10 24 304 .921 0.12 26 Stivrins,Lauren 125 1 3 7 .571 0.01 27 Boender,Olivia 12 1 3 9 .667 0.08 13 Holman,Briana 122 0 1 1 .000 0.00 NEBRASKA............ 125 184 236 2968 .920 1.47

She didn’t even play against Kentucky. Cook said she has no clue where the ball is going.

Thankfully, the team’s service game is more nuanced than the simple numbers you pulled from Huskers.com that allowed you to make an incorrect conclusion about Atherton’s serve in the first place.

You have to look at overall effectiveness. When Densberger and Atherton turn up, they have the most difficult serves to pass in the Husker gym.

There is a reason why Atherton was pulled from serving multiple times this year. 1 service error ever 4.5 serves is really bad effectiveness. Yes the Huskers serve was big part of their success but that was more because of others on team. For example, Maloney made huge strides serving from beginning of year to end of year.

Coach Cook literally said Atherton has no idea where its going so how can she match his requests. When she gets it in - yes it is good - but its very high error

This is true but she airmails lots of serves out of bounds. You have to look at overall effectiveness. When Densberger and Atherton turn up, they have the most difficult serves to pass in the Husker gym. Problem was that they were off a lot of the time. I know we serve aggressively and service errors happen but they were off too much when that was their only job

More like how wrong you were...yet again! How would you know that since you just registered in December of this year. Someone has multiple accounts? Huskerjen turning over an old leaf?
