Certainly not a lot of experience. But short of pulling in a transfer setter from another school, those are the setters Cal Poly will have. Just have to trust the coaches to work with the setters to get them where they need to be to run the offense at a good enough level to compete and win. Moving their starting Libero to the setting spot would weaken the team overall. You would be putting a new libero into the lineup, creating a liability with the libero now setter in the front row, and the offense would not run as well due to the most likely (not saying she can't set) inconsistent location sets required to run the fast offense that Cal Poly does. Three problems on the surface created by the switch. Using one of the current setters on the team, that they were recruited for, keeps stability and consistency at the other positions to help in the transition. Coach Crosson will be going into practice with an open mind. Quite sure moving Brouker out of position is not his desire. So, it will be a battle between the two setters on the 2018 CAL POLY Roster. I'm not quite sure what you're getting at. It was always going to be a battle between the setters.

in 22 years, Taylor Nelson should be sending her kid to Poly, I expect they'll have another good 4 year run then...watch out for 2040
people keep forgetting the key driving force in this Poly surge has nothing whatsoever to do with coaching, the driving force the last couple years are a network of moms/parents ...not a male coach that was fortunate to be there along the same time as a couple of legacy recruits came thru the door

They still had to get those kids to play at a higher level then when they came in. I didn't overlook the coaches. At the same time, those stars came to Cal Poly as their primary option based on legacy/friendship that were in place regardless of the coach. The coach certainly didn't create that. Does TVW really look to Poly as the primary option out of UCLA if that legacy/friend situation wasn't in place? yes, give credit to Crosson for not screwing it up so that they would have decided to go somewhere else, and he got them to mesh for a championship team. But this was a case of talent really aligning so that his job was made a HECK of a lot easier by having talent available that was predisposed to go to Poly big-time. Can't think of many coaches in the US that wouldn't have wanted Nelson & the VWs knocking at your doorstep like what happened at Poly. Successful situations are often half serendipity, that's life.

You have just explained the case for every coach,..for every team,...for every college sport. WOW...true genius to be sure. Let's now see what the new brain trust at LBSU can do,...recruiting-wise. When are you going to figure it out? Every coach is really only as good (or shall we say as better) as the players they can recruit. And, every coach will use (or should) ever possible advantage he has in his arsenal. John Wooden would have had a very short/uneventful career,...probably ending pitching hay in Kansas, if, he hadn't recruited players like Walton & Alcindor. CAL POLY has recruited three true freshmen this season. One who's mother played volleyball at UTennessee and father at LBSU. Thought you might be interested.

Yes, Cal Poly definitely had a unique situation with these recruits. But that doesn't mean the coaches did nothing to make them better players. You're fully discrediting Crosson and the staff to make these players better. Maybe this set of players will be a catalyst to help bring in other good recruits to keep Cal Poly competing for the BW title and more.

All have moved on... A new era has begun with names like Torrey & Adlee Van Winden, Katherine Brouker , Nikki Jackson and Madilyn Mercer.

Lol I'm not discrediting crosson whatsover I didn't say he didn't make them better players Nelson was a national player of the year out of HS, and her going to poly is a different discussion than what happened after she went to poly

It looks like we may have lost our assistant coach Jason Borchin & the volunteer assistant.
At least they no longer appear on the 2018 coaching staff roster.
Jason joined the staff in 2015.

Alcinder's parents didn't go to ucla
Wooden was a big reason alcinder went to ucla
But comparing crosson to wooden is really silly
Compare him to dan connors,
Imo Connors gets more out of his players than crosson,
