The most important thing is to admit it when you make a mistake and adjust accordingly. That is, just because I have a team at #3 to start the season (or #4 or wherever), I should drop them as soon as I think it was too high. It's my biggest complaint about the AVCA -- the glacial pace of poll movement and the tendency to commit to the preseason ranking for way too long. As a committee member you are already showing bias, you should be "PUT ON NOTICE"

The VT poll voters should also release a bracket in December before the real bracket is released.

When the NCAA poll begins, please consider providing a weekly view of the Volleytalk poll adjacent to the NCAA poll. Thank Will the weekly Volleytalk poll be released prior to the deadline for the NCAA poll voters? The biggest difference between my ballot and the actual poll is San Diego. I had them unranked I didn't have them ranked either. I almost added them at the end because I think Madill will be legit, but I need some evidence first.

For the 2018 season a couple of us thought it would be fun to put together a Volleytalk Top 25 weekly ranking! Where in the Volleytalk Poll Constitution are the rules for impeachment and removal of voting members? This is the most exclusive club in the world......................more so than the United States Senate.

For the record, I picked Minnesota #4. Also for the record, I voted a top 30. Proving I can't follow directions and should not be allowed to vote. Actually I am glad you did because I was going to recommend everyone do that moving forward so we could have the next 5, but there was plenty of variety in teams 18-25 so we could have had a top 35 in reality. Interesting idea. I’d be willing going forward. There may be less variability as the season progresses.

The voters that didn't vote Stanford #1 need to be removed. As I understand it (from vbprisoner, hopefully I'm not giving away trade secrets), a lot of Stanford's first place votes came from the Midwest while Nebraska's came from the west coast. Fans playing hot potato with frontrunner pressure. huskerjen is correct... five (5) of Nebraska's first place votes came from the west, and one (1) from the south. Eight (8) of Stanford's first place votes came from the mid-west.

Thank Will the weekly Volleytalk poll be released prior to the deadline for the NCAA poll voters? The biggest difference between my ballot and the actual poll is San Diego. I had them unranked I didn't have SD in either. Personally I'm glad there is quite a bit of variance in our voting to start the season. I feel it would be a worse poll, and very boring, if we all voted very similarly in the pre-season poll. It will be interesting to see how the variance decreases in the first few weeks of the season. There are some definite ways our poll will be better than the coaches poll: 1. I doubt there will be any votes for Stamford; 2. No legitimate Top-10 teams will be omitted from the list week after week. There should be far less WTF's with this poll. But again, good that there is some disagreement, or it would be boring.

I was an average of 3.7 spots off for the list. The largest difference was Pittsburgh who I had 18 spots lower followed by Marquette at 11 spots. I was slightly more accurate on Big Ten teams at an average of 3.4 spots different, but it wasn't to their benefit as I had both Michigan and Purdue on the outside looking in.
Spot Difference List
0 - Stanford, Minnesota 1 - Texas, BYU, Kentucky, UCLA, Washington, San Diego, Iowa State 2 - Nebraska, Penn State, Illinois, Colorado, Louisville 3 - Wisconsin, Florida, Oregon, Creighton 5 - Baylor, Cal Poly 6 - USC 7 - Michigan, Colorado St. 8 - Purdue 11 - Marquette 18 - Pittsburgh
Teams I Had In: Hawaii, Utah, Missouri, Wichita St., Western Ky.

The voters that didn't vote Stanford #1 need to be removed. I'm guilty. Didn't want to jinx them. Hey, quite often when Penn State was clearly the best team, RR would put his team 2 or 3, at least early in the season.

I left Cal Poly off my list. Someone tell me why I'm wrong (I can be convinced). The Van Windens are very good, but they lost Nelson, Greisen, and Niemen. I don't see where they make up that production based on recent recruiting classes.

For the record, I'd prefer to just vote on Top 25 teams. Since vbp included a "receiving votes" section, it is almost the same thing as Top 30 anyway.

I always hesitate to put too much stock in a team that has graduated its setter, unless I know for sure there is quality stepping in.
