btw im not hating any of our incoming recruits. none of us has really seen them ply in person so im just judging them on what they need to work on.
Hope RAMS secures top notch transfers ASAP! cant wait so long where most top transfer will be committed by then since we have more than 2 scholarships still available

Once again, is there any news on Hellvig’s paper. It’s taking quite a while. Has she taken her entry exams yet? Oh, and I’ve been trying to look for videos on her, but most of it is on the beach. You're way out of the loop lol . There's a Hellvig highlight vid on here Whoops, haven’t been paying attention to this thread lately. Nevertheless, still excited.

I am excited to see these young recruits play for Hawai'i. Some of these recruits, like Riley Wagoner, Braelyn Akana, and Hanna Hellvig are old school type of Hawai'i volleyball recruits. While they do have room to grow, they have a solid volleyball foundation. Robyn's got a good mix of bangers (Westerberg and Igiede) and well rounded recruits coming in. The future is bright, and it starts next year with a good core of returnees.

She looks like a dynamic player hopefully she will turn out to be a Hartong type of player instead of a Waber 2.0. Hehehe jk.

A lot of people are talking about Hellvig, Wagoner, and Westerberg, as being the impact players of this recruiting class. But people should not overlook Akana, and especially Igiede. It would not surprise me if these two players really shine next year, especially Igiede.

I'm not sure where people are getting this "Westerberg only touches 10ft" stuff from. I've been trying to research this and the only thing I can find is an article from the Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows News from Dec. 13, 2017 (over a year ago). In that article it states she touches 10'2" and that was a year ago. If you look at her recent videos she gets up there. Definitely over 10'2".... This is the link to the webpage. I'm only providing a link to what's already on the internet. I have no idea how accurate the information might be. The page lists her as 17 years old. The embedded video lists her as in a 16U league, but only block touching at 9'1" with a standing reach of 8'0", so the 9'7" number on the web page would be an improvement. Hopefully, she has continued to improve. www.ncsasports.org/womens-volleyball-recruiting/british-columbia/maple-ridge/maple-ridge-secondary-school/tiffany-westerbergThat link is old and incorrect. She played U16 when she was 15. If played 17 when still 15 then 16 so her advancement has been tremendous.

Next year's freshman class come in with impressive credentials, and while it's wise not to overhype them, there's no harm in hoping that at least a couple of them will be major contributors before their time is done at UH. I'm hopeful that the returnees will fight to get on the court. Williams brings a nice combo of offense and defense, and should be among the contenders for a starting spot. Krug showed potential in the limited time she got. She's got a powerful arm and has shown that she can be a blocking threat. Rika Okino was a bright spot this past season, and I think she'll be pretty solid as the libero. Janelle Gong will likely see more court time next year. Probably play back row for one of the pins or be the serving sub for one of the middles from the get go. Ross is almost always a reliable off the bench contributor. I'll be a little harder on Iosia, since she came in with a lot of experience and accolades. I don't think she ever lived up to the hype. She was terrible in quite a few matches this year, and while I understand that her concentration was split between playing two different positions, there were times when Ma'afala outperformed her. And the less said about Ma'afala, the better.

I have saw her play in Florida last year at the AAU when they placed in the top ten for Team Canada then at Oklahoma at the HP championships when they took bronze. I was at both tournaments following my niece who they beat. I watched all of her games I just wished I filmed them. I was excited to see her name for the Wahine. Her level in Oklahoma was unreal.

As a point of reference of her current level, is there any player to whom you would compare her in terms of skills and/or ability?

People need to lay off Iosia. For a player to play to positions throughout matches, and do a decent at both is remarkable. I do not know of another D1 player who did this. To be able to accomplish this shows you how high her volleyball IQ is. I have nothing but praise for Iosia. She put TEAM, before SELF, in her willingness to do this. She could have easily told Robyn, NO, I just want to play Setter. To me, Iosia, was the MVP of this team.

The best player on this team is Iosia, so why is everyone criticizing the girl? Seriously, who else can do better? Granato was really disappointing her senior season, and so was Castillo. So why is everyone getting down on Iosia?
