Does anyone have thoughts about maybe moving Skylar Williams to OPP? Keeping both Westerberg, and Igiede, in the Middle. Skylar Williams does seem to have the athletic ability, and quickness, to play OPP. I am just not sold, just yet, on Westerberg playing OPP. Geezuz! These girls are not even at UH yet or even played a set and already you’re saying you’re not sold on Westerberg playing opp? Brah jumping the gun or what. Get them in the gym and let the COACHES evaluate them. That’s their job NOT yours! Just take a seat and Shut it.

She did pretty good as an OH this year, and she had a very good year in the back court IMO. I'm not nearly as down on her as some of you. I would not say hitting .180 as having a pretty good year, especially for a Senior, and your supposedly Go To Hitter. I do agree though, she did improve in her back court play. I agree that .188 isn't good but, if hitting efficiency is the yardstick, none of the pin hitters were good this past season. Except for Krug, the middles were ok (between .301 and .344) but the OHs and opposites were low. So IMO that tells you more about the setting (or else poor passing leading to poor setting) than the hitters. Unless you think that all the pin hitters were bad. The OHs were between -.182 (Castaneda) and .195 (Castillo). In that light, Granato was pretty good. The opposites, who should have a higher hitting % than the OHs, hit between .098 (Sibley), .159 (Gaskin) and .209 (Iosia). So they were either worse than Granato or only marginally better when they should have been substantially better. Also, Granato was the only one on the team to have over 3 k/s. Castillo did next best and she only had 2.2 k/s. That's a problem too.

Well I would saying doing pretty well so far considering she’s gotten into the tourney twice in the two seasons she’s been coach. Also considering what players she had to work with.

Also want to add, have not seen her play in person. Just does not seem athletic enough to play Opposite, that is just my opinion. I understand things could change once she gets here, and Robyn does her thing with her.

Not even practicing that position during practice time, and only taking a couple of warm up swings there, per Robyn.

Just out of curiosity, how are you rainbow wahine fans liking ROBYN AH MOW-SANTOS taking over for Dave Shoji ? Is she measuring up ? I think she is doing a fine job as head coach. Her inexperience as a coach shows at times when she takes too long to call a timeout, and I was also perplexed as to why she would substitute Sibley in for Gaskin, and when Sibley does well for the ending stretch of the set, she chooses to put Gaskin in the next set (also taking too long to put Sibley in). Similarly, I feel that she sometimes chose to take Castillo out too late, like I thought that Castillo should have maybe been taken out in the 3rd set of the Baylor match. However, I do think she is getting better, and she made some smart decisions that were pivotal such as bringing Williams in the Cal Poly match in the 4th set, Krug into the Pepperdine match, Ross in the match at UCI, and etc. In terms of recruiting, we will see how her first recruiting class pans out. Objectively based on some video and stats, it seems that we are getting a solid group of recruits, but we just have to wait and see how they perform in the upcoming season. Overall, is RAMS the next Dave Shoji? Right now, it is hard to tell, and Shoji was a legend. However, I think she has done a great job at coaching the team she has, and trying to fill a need on the team with the transfers in Akiu, Gaskin, and Liva. It seems that she takes a different approach to coaching, like in the mile run and etc. I'm waiting a few more seasons before making an opinion on how far she could take this program.

But you just gotta relax and be patient and wait and see like the rest of us. We’re all excited and want good things to happen but I will reserve opinion and judgement until they have completed their first season of play under Robyn and Angelica. Just chill and let it play out first. I’d rather argue with other people than Wahine fans.

Robyn also made a coaching decision that not many, if any Head Coach would make. That is to have her Setter, Iosia, play both Setter, and OPP, positions. I do not believe even Shoji would have made that move. I believe that move by Robyn, allowed the Wahine to be considered for the Tournament.

Wonder if Robyn will continue that Mile Run thing, before fall practice. What I do like is the way Robyn handles practices. She has brought back that intensity in practices, that Dave use to have during the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's. Also, Robyn's practices are a full 3 hours worth, never cut short.

She definitely shows her inexperience at times, by getting a little to fustrated or taking too long to call a timeout, but overall, shes done an EXCELLENT job and I have been SO happy with the way things have turned out and im really excited forf our future.
