Just out of curiosity, how are you rainbow wahine fans liking ROBYN AH MOW-SANTOS taking over for Dave Shoji ? Is she measuring up ? She’s a dynamic coach at the sidelines which is good to fire up her players. a. The mile run thing seemed to work this season because the girls looked like they have improved their athleticism when they went on long rallies. b. May I suggest for the coaches to start a tradition of wearing themed outfits in matches? The Oregon coaching team looked good in green during their match against Nebraska. Maybe UH coaches can start wearing Aloha shirts? c. I like the idea of the servers to look at the coaches for area instructions just like how Nebraska does it.

Don't go there! 😄😄😄

If you are looking to have Robyn wearing a dress, or even a pants suit on the bench, you can forget that thought completely. Also, the Wahine servers do look at the coaching staff for area to serve. I believe the volunteer coach is giving the serve area number.

I think she is doing a fine job as head coach. Her inexperience as a coach shows at times when she takes too long to call a timeout, and I was also perplexed as to why she would substitute Sibley in for Gaskin, and when Sibley does well for the ending stretch of the set, she chooses to put Gaskin in the next set (also taking too long to put Sibley in). Similarly, I feel that she sometimes chose to take Castillo out too late, like I thought that Castillo should have maybe been taken out in the 3rd set of the Baylor match. However, I do think she is getting better, and she made some smart decisions that were pivotal such as bringing Williams in the Cal Poly match in the 4th set, Krug into the Pepperdine match, Ross in the match at UCI, and etc. In terms of recruiting, we will see how her first recruiting class pans out. Objectively based on some video and stats, it seems that we are getting a solid group of recruits, but we just have to wait and see how they perform in the upcoming season. Overall, is RAMS the next Dave Shoji? Right now, it is hard to tell, and Shoji was a legend. However, I think she has done a great job at coaching the team she has, and trying to fill a need on the team with the transfers in Akiu, Gaskin, and Liva. It seems that she takes a different approach to coaching, like in the mile run and etc. I'm waiting a few more seasons before making an opinion on how far she could take this program. Wonder if Robyn will continue that Mile Run thing, before fall practice. What I do like is the way Robyn handles practices. She has brought back that intensity in practices, that Dave use to have during the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's. Also, Robyn's practices are a full 3 hours worth, never cut short. I like that she pushes the conditioning aspect as well. Players came in to the season in better overall shape, weight, and conditioning this year. That is so important at the D1 level.

Can you imagine in what kind of condition the returning players will be in come next fall. I am thinking, unbelievable condition, having been with Robyn for 2 years now, and knowing she is very serious about it.

I can't do a 7-minute mile now and I'm in great shape. I used to be able to do the mile in 5:45, but that was decades ago.

I completely agree. I was surprised when a player couldn't run a 7 minute mile, though. These are college students and athletes on top of that. I assumed that they'd all be running, lifting weights or cross-training in some other sport in the off season. It was very odd that Liva was the one who had the problem since she had been a basketball player the year before. All the BB players I know ran bc they needed the stamina to play. But, since that wasn't happening with all the players, it's very good that Robyn makes them do it during the preseason.

If we can secure an impact MB transfer, Westerberg will most likely move to the OPP.

The best player on this team is Iosia, so why is everyone criticizing the girl? Seriously, who else can do better? Granato was really disappointing her senior season, and so was Castillo. So why is everyone getting down on Iosia? I just keep reading people commenting that Iosia is really not that good a setter. Does not set the Middles, has not lived up to the hype, etc. That is all I am saying. If you are saying that Iosia was the best player on the Wahine team this past year, I totally agree with you. I predict, Iosia will show people why she was one of the best setters coming out of high school, next year. It would not surprise me if she gains All-American status as a Setter, next year, also. I may have been critical at times when Norene was not playing to her "hype' or IMO potential but as a fan of Na Wahine, it was never meant to put her down. I did concur that she was not playing to all the hype when it was posted and we can agree to disagree and have a healthy debate. WTS I feel Tita was the best player for Na Wahine 2018 and that's just my opinion. I hope Norene has a breakout 2019 season so she can facilitate the strengths of all the incoming and returning crew for the 2019 season. BTW snowboading sucked..it was more like slushboarding teehee
