No doubt that Dave was a great coach. His time has come and gone and bless his heart for being a top class person and coach. He has passed his torch to a fantastic Wahine and she with Angelica will take the team to a new and fierce level. the best thing is Dave will always be there for the Wahine and he knows to respect Robyn.

Cook, Dunning, Bananchowski, Shoji, Rose. This was a list of the winningest coaches in the sport. Edit: strange list. Rose, Shoji and Andy are definitely 1-2-3, but after Andy, there's Mick and Hebert who have more wins that Dunning. And Cook is actually way down the list, with Michaelis, Gregory, Wise, Gimmilaro, among others, with more wins than Cook.

Cook, Dunning, Bananchowski, Shoji, Rose. This was a list of the winningest coaches in the sport. Thinking, Rose and Shoji will be in that position, 1 and 2 respectively for quite some time.

I just keep reading people commenting that Iosia is really not that good a setter. Does not set the Middles, has not lived up to the hype, etc. That is all I am saying. If you are saying that Iosia was the best player on the Wahine team this past year, I totally agree with you. I predict, Iosia will show people why she was one of the best setters coming out of high school, next year. It would not surprise me if she gains All-American status as a Setter, next year, also. I may have been critical at times when Norene was not playing to her "hype' or IMO potential but as a fan of Na Wahine, it was never meant to put her down. I did concur that she was not playing to all the hype when it was posted and we can agree to disagree and have a healthy debate. WTS I feel Tita was the best player for Na Wahine 2018 and that's just my opinion. I hope Norene has a breakout 2019 season so she can facilitate the strengths of all the incoming and returning crew for the 2019 season. BTW snowboading sucked..it was more like slushboarding teehee I don't see anything wrong with criticizing Iosia as a player. She came in with a lot of accolades. Maybe I expected too much, but IMO, she has to be among the most underwhelming starting setters in recent years. She's an upperclassman with two years of starting experience, and before anyone throws that "playing two positions" defense, she was pretty underwhelming too last year and the year before that. Some fans can be soooo dramatic and take everything as a personal affront.

Some fans can be soooo dramatic and take everything as a personal affront. And some fans can be far too critical of players based on their own expectations of how good a player should be. What’s so underwhelming about her? Underwhelming as in not capturing more personal awards? Underwhelming with her set selection, tempo, location? Underwhelming with not progressing as a setter? Norene came in as a freshman, took over the starting setter role from Tayler Higgins, and help lead her team to a regional final. She’s helped get her team to two NCAA tournament berths while the rest of us wondered if they’d make it, doing so last season by playing two positions. She has probably done everything that was asked of her as a player (and I only said probably because I don’t know what was asked of her). There is no denying her talent in all aspects of the game. Unlike some of her peers, she didn’t have a great supporting cast this past season, and arguably the year before too (although Mags was a beast). When I look at Norene as a player, I focus on all the little things she does to help her team. I don’t care about personal accolades, or body language, facial expression or other things that people tend to focus on. She’s pretty damn spectacular when you’re paying attention to the things that really matter.

Just out of curiosity, how are you rainbow wahine fans liking ROBYN AH MOW-SANTOS taking over for Dave Shoji ? Is she measuring up ? Undecided. On one case the program has fallen to a level that would have been considered unacceptable and unheard of even a decade ago. However there were extenuating circumstances and The staff seem determined to correct and fix it. I think the next two years will determine a lot of things.

I can't imagine another 300 days of reading through this message thread until next season even starts, and seeing the same comments cycling through every week. Gnarly.

Just out of curiosity, how are you rainbow wahine fans liking ROBYN AH MOW-SANTOS taking over for Dave Shoji ? Is she measuring up ? Arguments go like this: 1. Robyn Ah Mow-Santos (aka RAMS) has done a great job because she did the most with the crappy players left behind by Shoji. Two BWC 2nd place finishes and two NCAAs. 2. RAMS will do wonders in the years to come because she has done a great job recruiting -- at least on paper. 3. Players have bought into RAMS's coaching style because there have been only one transfer out in her two years -- and this was in September 2018 after the season already started.

I think Brian Gimmillaro should've been on that list. If this is about winningest, Cook should not be on it since he just started coaching in 1992 (at Wisconsin), and then became Nebraska head coach in 1999. Not taking anything away from Cook, and what he has done at Nebraska taking over for Coach Pettit.

Hey everyone. If you watch the video he says top 5 coaching legends in women's volleyball. It's not a list of the top 5 winningest coaches....

What people need to also understand, Iosia not only went through a Head Coaching change, but also, a position coaching change also. Different coaching styles from the Head Coach to postion coach. Those can have an effect on a player. Then this past year, having to play two positions. Give Iosia a break. To say she has not lived up to expectations, is totally wrong. I believe as a volleyball player she has lived up to expectations, maybe even exceeded it. I truly believe Iosia will be the Setter that we all thought she would be, next year. Reason is, Iosia will now have 3 years with Robyn coaching her, next year will be the pay off year. Especially, with Robyn only having to coach Iosia and no other setter, this coming Spring.
