The first match is underway: SMS vs Indiana St Live Stats for the tournament are available here webs.wichita.edu/gs/vblivestats/xlive.htmThere is some potential implications for the tournament. While Wichita St is the clear favorite, there are teams there that can pull an upset. If that were to happen, Wichita St will slip into one of the precious at-large berths. Therefore, fans of Pacific, UCIrvine, Purdue, Georgia, and Arkansas, as well as the other bubble teams, should be interested in what's happening in Wichita this weekend. The matches SMS/Indiana St winner vs UNI at 5 pm tonight CST Creighton/Illinois St winner vs Wichita St tonight at 7 pm Championship match is tomorrow night televised around the midwest. Don't you think it's possible WSU could lose their berth if they don't win this tournament? I'm not sure the MO Valley is strong enough this year for 2 teams.

Thought crossed my mind. I don't think so, but it has crossed my mind.
One thing that the MVC has for it, and the top teams especially, is that they did schedule strong in the non-conference. This isn't an Eastern Washington situation.
Non-conference teams:
Wichita St: UCSB, Kansas St, Washington, Arkansas SMS: Hawaii, UCLA, Santa Clara, Arkansas Illinois St: Illinois, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame UNI: Florida, KSU, Minnesota, Notre Dame
They didn't win many of them (a couple), but I think the committee will recognize that they did go out and play good competition outside of the conference.
Moreover, Wichita St beat Arkansas, so if it is a question of Arkansas vs Wichita St, the Shockers go
SMS wins game 1 30 - 14

SMS goes out 25 - 15 in game 2. Under Buchwald's "Mercy Rule" criteria, that means the game is effectively over and we can move on to something else while they work their way to 30.
(30 - 17 SMS)

Ind St jumps out to a 17 - 10 lead in game three, but SMS storms back for a 23 - 21 lead.
Come on, Sycamores, pull at least one game out and make SMS work up a sweat before they play UNI tonight.

And they do! Indiana St comes back from being down 28 - 26 to win 30 - 28 in game three. Can they get another?

First game of the second match, Illinois St vs Creighton, was close most of the way, but Creighton crawled out to a 26 - 22 lead, and lead 29 - 27. Ill St pulls off three straight before Creighton recovers, and two more quick ones by Ill St gives them a 32 - 30 win in game 1.

The link to live stats in the first post in this thread Yeah just saw that, boy do I feel dumb! BTW, SMS is putting together a nice run in G1 - down 16-18 a three point run, then after UNI tied it at 19, SMS put four more on the board to go up 23-19, it's now 25-23 SMS after a mini-run by UNI.
