That was a great win for USC, and such a confidence and momentum builder heading into the post-season. The team needs to play well behind the block to compete and put itself in a position to win the match. And it was good that the team has been able to show up in tight 5th games. I hope the tenacious backrow plays will continue -- as long as they are able to hussle for the balls, they would have better chances to win (though sometimes, you don't know which USC teams will turn up). I am hoping that Adams, Candelas and Burdine will continue carrying the team on their backs and open up the net for Florian, Venski and Copenhagen/Robinson.
On another note, is anyone taping the match? I am out of the country (until next week) and if someone can tape the match for me (or make a copy), I would be very grateful. I'll pay for the cost. Let me know. Thanks.

Does anyone else think that Morrison looks A LOT like Linda Carter of "Wonder Woman" fame?

Grrrrrrrr...
I turned on the cable, went to the Fox Sports channel that was supposed to be replaying this match, and they appear to have replaced it with a Gonzaga vs. Illinois men's basketball game - that happens to be playing on other Fox Sports channels at the same time.

Gorf, I've got that same basketball game on, perhaps we have the same FOX coverage. I saw something about 4pm today (so I'll check on it then), but Yahoo TV listings for my area show the game being broadcast (at least for my area) on Monday at 1pm CST. I don't know if that helps you, but that's what I've been able to find so far.

The match starts on Fox Sports West at 11:00 am Hawai'i time (in about a half an hour). There is a sports show on before the USC/UW match so there is no need to worry about Basketball pre-empting the taped volleyball match. Well I don't think the match will be shown where you guys are. That's okay, I'll watch it for all of you. ;D

I am shocked and awed that you not only read, but also respond to other threads that do not concern the great state of Hawai`i and The Wahine. You Sir, are the THOMAS MOORE of all posters. This an open invitation for you and Brian Gimmillaro to crash at my pad for the FF in Long Beach where The Wahine nation will congregate.

Come on down, we Seal Beacheans look forward to your fellowship.

Just saw the match - Some belated thoughts. Wow!! Just a tremendous, hard fight to the end. The stuff of Final Four matchups. It's been said, and I agree, this could very well have been a Final Four preview. Sonja didn't really bring the heat till the latter stages of the match. But she can certainly bang, even with her soft cast. She's definitely got some timing issues with Thompson, but a match like this will go a long way toward getting her re-integrated in the starting lineup. Deesing was money (why hasn't she played more?). She and Leck stepped in and really turned it around for the Huskies. USC setters' connection with the middles aren't always smooth (sets too low), even when the pass is up to the net. Candelas' numbers may be down this year, but she is a leader out on the court. Thompson is 1st team AA - Is there enuff room up there for 3 setters (anticipating Tortorello, Kamana'o, and Thompson)?? The liberos for both teams were just all over the court, making incredible digs. A shoutout to Hawaii homegirl Aratani - who had a couple great serving runs and digs late in the match. Good luck to the Huskies on getting things done tonight against UCLA for a PAC-10 ring. USC will be a dangerous opponent for whichever top 4 seed is fortunate to have them in their region.

This seems kinda similar to when Stanford and USC (2002) split matches against each other, both games going to 5 and each losing on their own homecourt. UW could have easily won this game off that wide almost kill in the 5th, and I think in the first match up, USC had like 2 or 3 match points. I hope these teams get to play again in the post season, but not before the Final Four. I don't want my Women of Troy to match up w/ either UW or Nebraska early on.

I must say that Deesing played very well. I was shocked to hear that she is only a freshman, and on top of that, hasn't played much. She has a very fluid swing and puts balls away consistently. She was putting balls around Candelas and Adams. Deesing gets up high and swings hard. the defense was amazing on both parts. Lee and Seilhammer were flying (literally) all around the court. I'm envious of the great competition in the Pac-10. Any space in there for a Wahine volleyball team?
