What about the setter that committed to Penn State. Maybe a Rachel? Rachel Muisenga, 6' S/OH from Illinois. Plays club at 1st Alliance Lions 16-1 (15-1 last year). Committed to PSU after JOs last year.

It was important she got Sis. She had Big Ten offers. I wish KBB would have landed Phyona too, but she committed early to ND.

Creighton may have already had their setter. I am still surprised that Wait committed to Creighton instead of Kansas (assuming Kansas was offering). Her older sister was a star at Kansas and a couple of her club teammates that won the 15U Nationals last year are going to Kansas.

Commits by conference right now:
Big Ten - 21 SEC - 15 ACC - 12 PAC 12 - 10 Big 12 - 9 Big East - 6
Is this normal? I am under the general assumption that the better players commit early and that in theory the B1G and PAC are likely to have the most early commits. But only 10 by the PAC right now seems small.

There are 14 teams in the BIG and three aggressive recruiters in the conference. The PAC 12 has 12 teams and TWO of them do not offer before junior year at all. So, the ratio difference really is not as large as it seems.

I think it's fair to say Midwest kids commit earlier, but a lot of PAC schools don't have a lot of schollies open for 2021 Look at how many scholarship players Stanford, Oregon, Washington, USC, WSU are graduating in 2020 - and that's more or less the top half of the conference. (also look at 2017 recruiting class rankings - only UCLA in Top 10. Utah and Arizona next). I'm a bit surprised the Desert/Mountain schools haven't snagged more yet though. UCLA has dry powder but go back to the UCLA thread for thoughts on their recruiting.

Interesting that there may be a 2020 bulge, I will look at that. But, if you look at Rich Kern's site, you will see that UCLA and Stanford do NOT offer scholarships to kids that cannot drive a car. Nor to kids that have only been driving a year for that matter. And definitely not to kids still celebrating their middle school volleyball championship. These two I am sure of. Whether Cal or a few of the others do the same, I do not know. But that would put the PAC way behind others with 20-30% of the member schools waiting for Junior year. The thread is about kids in sophomore year, so this can explain a lot of the difference. Also, if you go to Kern and pick a graduating year, you can see that very few kids actually commit as early as VT seems to think they do. There are graphs there too that show this. His subscription price is quite reasonable so I will not post the actual data as everyone interested should join his site.

Wait was MVP of the 16s championship in Detroit, and I'm pretty sure she wasn't committed yet. Phyona was already committed to ND in early April according to RK. Just checked and RK says August for Wait. My bad it was the 16s that won and the 15s the year before that finished 2nd (I believe).
I know that RK has Wait committing in August, but I am 99.9% sure that she committed prior to April and it was either in late February or March that she announced her commitment. RK has Schrader committing to ND in April - but then that could have been committed long before April (that I don't know). Anyway, it is possible that Wait committed before Schrader - and that it is possible that once Wait committed Schrader was off the table.

I'm sorry: I presume I am in the minority here - I really, truly don't know - but as a former coach (albeit 10s of years ago), I find SUCH The Fixation Upon 13-15 year-old girls WAY Creepy!

Mac Russ, 5'11" MB from NC (transfer from CO this past season). Playing up with CUVC 18-Premier this club season (same team as OH Purdue signee Emma Ellis, OH UNC signee Carly Peck, and fellow 2021 recruit and UNC commit Maylen Mitrovich). She is committed to Wichita State currently but that could change once East Coast teams see her play more.

Interesting. I don't know about 'Fixation' - but at what point is interest in club volleyball 'normal' and when is it 'creepy'? Serious question. Does a player's public commitment to a University change this? Obviously club coaches high level of interest would be normal (I would think). I try and be sensitive to the 'creepy' tag - even when usually talking about 19 and 20 year old college players.
