Still no answer though to the original question about why some players are wearing leggings as opposed to shorts. Is it medical? Religious? Personal comfort or discomfort? Hart started wearing hers last year but there has never been anything about why. She does not appear to be trying to make a statement since she has never said anything publicly that I have seen. I am only interested in the why of it. I know in basketball there is a lot of legging-wearing nowadays, both men's and women's. Across the sports, I know it's 1 or more of several reasons: fashion (because it's so cool and it makes the kids ask why, esp. if you're just wearing it on one leg), medical (compression), comfort (very cold-natured athletes who can't stay warm). I am sure there might be other reasons, but I know of at least one athlete in each of these categories.

Yeah I usually don't think of Catholic as being particularly strict, at least compared to some of the very strict Christian organizations in the country. CoC, LDS, Southern Baptists, Episcopalians, etc. Episcopalians ?? Maybe the more globally conservative "Anglicans" but certainly not the American wing which accepts female & gay priests, and allows priests to marry and have families. That is progressive! I apologize for my ignorance.
My only knowledge of Episcopalians comes from the documentary film "Jesus Camp". That shows them as actively promoting speaking in tongues, and the like. Although upon further review, I may have confused them with Pentacostal? Hmm... too many to keep track of!

I still wear 1970s men's shorts -- running shorts as well as jean cutoffs: (baseball cap and hippie hair optional) Wolfgang, by looking at your avatar pic I'm guessing you're the guy holding the beer!

I don't see why they should have to explain themselves. If a player wants to wear leggings or longer shorts, I say more power to them. Tell that to the 13 year olds who ask every time they see it and ask why a certain player is wearing what is essentially a different uniform from the rest of the team. Once again, if it is a medical condition or for religious reasons, awareness of why is not a bad thing. I suppose that isn't any different than wondering why some basketball players wear a different uniform from the rest of the team in terms of those "shooting sleeves" or how some volleyball players have different color shoelaces or headbands or something. and I don't think all short lengths on a team have to be identical any more than thinking that all facemasks have to be identical on a football team (and kickers often have different facemasks than linebackers/etc.).

Tell the 13 year old whatever answer that you believe that she will find satisfactory.

I saw in a (personal) social media video that Alexis Hart wears them because they are cozy and altogether more comfortable. No other reason.

I've seen men run in jeans. Never understood that. I'm guessing they're one of those types who are out of shape and, on a whim, decided to run just because it's spring and it's nice outside and, well, gotta lose some fat. Can't run in jeans. They restrict your movements and you burn up quickly.

Long leggings is a different discussion. Very common overseas and in many sports; not just VB. You see them in BB, soccer, FB etc. China and Japan wear them for recovery, so they are more compression related. If you have long leggings on you also slide across the floor better digging balls. How in many of our gyms they would be pretty warm.

You (closet) pervs STILL keeping this "thread that Will Not die" going over here? I knew that the OP was oblivious to how many tangents a thread such as this would take here on VT: go home!
