I'm just curious on why most of the athletes wear short volleyball spandex shorts and some where the longer spandex shorts. In example, 1 Minnesota volleyball players wears the longer spandex shorts and an Ohio State volleyball player is wearing one? Is it for medical reasons or something else?

I would guess the girls wearing the longer shorts are doing it for some sort of injury problem.

I still wear 1970s men's shorts -- running shorts as well as jean cutoffs: (baseball cap and hippie hair optional)

Some religious schools don't even wear the spandex. Like Franciscan University.

Ah yes, those bun huggers, those only went out style in the 90's. OP, if you think the current spandex shorts are really short now, you have not seen those bun hugger days. So I'm just saying the current ones are actually a tad more modest than before. But I'm not going to get into the debate of whether the current spandex shorts are ideal or not, long story short, that's a complicated story I don't want to get into.

I don't know why black is so common when there are so many other colors available.
In Ohio, Miami U wears red and Wright St wears green. At the D3 level Capital alternates between purple and dark grey, while Heidelberg wears bright orange.
There's something to be said for variety.

I remember watching the volleyball games with the bun huggers outfit. I was just making an observation of Alexis Hart of Minnesota and the Ohio State volleyball player wearing above the knee spandex compared to their other teammates

Ohio state has always worn the longer shorts, with a block O on the thigh.
They seem to have loosened up on it a little this year, with a couple of players wearing the shorter ones.
No idea why.
There was a Nebraska player a few years back that had one leg quite a bit longer than the other. Maybe to cover up a tattoo?

Black or Navy are the most popular colors for spandex because they are the most flattering on most body types. Is this really a discussion?
