First, the photo UH used of Anna Kiraly looks like she's applying to medical school. (I realize that her family probably sent that photo to UH.)
Second, I know I'll have to get used to typing "Kiraly" without an image of Karch Kiraly popping into my head.
Third, and most important, we shouldn't rush to pencil in anyone at any spot. I remember before the season started, we all had Westerberg at OPP/MB, Hanawahine at L, and possibly Sibley at OH. We tend to underestimate the ability of some players to improve dramatically (e.g., Williams) and others to exceed expectations (e.g., Van Sickle, Wagoner, Igiede). Basically, we spectator fans know nothing.

What impresses me the most is her step out. Wow!

Lol, I was going to say she looks like a very tall librarian...but yeah, med school student works too. Hey, Clare Marie Anderson is a second year JABSOM med student so maybe not so far fetched. I gotta admit I was high on Westerberg early on, not so much with Hanawahine and never with Sibley.

Maybe Westesberg came in thinking she would be playing primarily MH but hopefully she improves a lot for a different role next year. Hoping she improves on the right side and Hanna improves on the left.

Wow... all these international players. Is this part of the Ljungquist connection granted that she's from Europe?

Wondering what Robyn and staff is thinking, picking up another Middle, instead of a Left Side Hitter. I can understand picking up Anna, with Williams being a Senior in 2020. But with Jolie's injury riddle history, would it not be more prudent to pick up a Left Side Hitter, instead. Does Robyn and staff see something in Westerberg, Wagoner, or Akana, that we do not see. Robyn and staff are with these players every day in practice, while we only see them when they play in matches. It will be interesting to see where Robyn and staff plug in these 3 players next year and beyond. One thing is for sure, Robyn and staff will have the firepower to compete against any team in the country next year and beyond. Next year's team will be the deepest the Wahine have been in a very long.

Anyone know what is going on with Nika Danielson. She decommitted from Temple and has not signed with any team, yet. Wondering if Robyn has worked out some sort of deal with Nika Danielson. Something like, if the Wahine do not pick up a transfer setter, then the last scholarship will go to you as a setter. Otherwise, walk-on and you will be awarded the following year. From what I have heard, Nika Danielson can set. Need to remember Robyn was not a setter in High School, but an Outside Hitter, from what I can remember.

Well, I remember awhile back there was rumors of a local commit who de-committed from their initial school and was going to UH instead. Makes me think Danielson could be the player. She is a fantastic volleyball player. I'd consider her a potential libero prospect. Apparently Hawaii has two scholarships to give. Just for her volleyball IQ alone, I'd say she's a scholarship type player. But if there's no scholarship yet, maybe thats why we haven't heard anything. She's a walk-on like Via. Makes me think Hanawahine was never on scholarship as well.

Makes me think Hanawahine was never on scholarship as well. It is probably her. Either a libero prospect, or she could even be the 2nd Setter. It will depend on if Robyn can find a Junior, or Senior Setter who is looking to transfer. If Robyn cannot find that Junior, or Senior Setter who is looking to transfer, then Robyn could award a scholarship to Danielson. Do not believe Robyn will take a Sophomore Setter transfer. Would have to be a Setter with experience, if it is a transfer.

Its possible Hanawahine was only guaranteed a scholie for this year. Not uncommon for liberos/DS’s to get partials.

I don't know about Anna being a project. If you read the write up on her on Cindy's post, that is not "project" material. She seems to be a winner. Won a lots of tourney MVPS and Player of the year awards. Too earn a spot on the senior national team as a 18-19 year old is an accomplishment. BTW..a little off topic but remember that kid from Coastal Carolina, Anett Nemeth? She was a stud and earned a spot on the Hungarian National team too. She played in Hawaii couple years ago and was very impressive I'm actually surprised that Anna K picked Hawaii over Coastal Carolina. The Coastal Carolina coach is Hungarian and has several Hungarian girls on the team. I think this is a testament to coach Ang's recruiting ability. Now I'm hoping that a stud transfer setter and OH/OPP will jump on board the Hawaii train. Anett Nemeth to Hawaii would make a Final Four team for sure

Are there any Hungarian athletes on any of UH’s sports teams? I would check myself but...

Kiraly is a terrific get! Now for a seasoned setter to transfer and an Ali Longo type lib too....that'll do it....
