Transfers and frosh recruiting classes are two different things. The very top transfers have not gone to Minnesota. Yes, we have Acevedo who was courted by other good programs but what we were really needing was a middle blocker. McCutcheon recruited pin hitters very well, getting those rankings, but really recriuted very good middles but not the top middles. Also, we can't claim that we need so many transfers and then brag that we have great recruiting - why would someone say we need transfers and claim that we have top recruiting every year. Those two don't jive. BTW, 2 is not much more than 1.

BTW, 2 is not much more than 1. This is a matter of perspective; 2 is a 100% increase from 1 - which is quite a bit. ◡̈

I’m not “hoping” anything. The best setter in the Minn gym should run the offense next year, whomever that may be. No one knows how good Swenson is yet at the D1 level. If they bring in someone to either push her or be better than her, I support that. The coaching staff should set clear expectations with anyone they bring in as it will be a critical addition. Gotcha. I don’t disagree. Just was a little confused by the initial post. I just don’t see cook portal shopping over her, unless he really feels like she’s not there yet. I would also point out (I’m pretty sure) the Swenson sisters were not Keegan’s recruits, he inherited them. (I could be wrong here) His job is to upgrade no matter who or what the position.

Swenson’s were Hugh’s last commits, but signed when Keegan was the coach…. So, I guess kind of both?? As to the latter half of your response, I agree with you. But they need to get those incoming players on board, and as far as I’m concerned, besides Acevedo, he missed out in the portal last year.

This fan would sure hope so. You hope for an upgrade from Swenson? I think the consensus from the few that have been engaging in the conversation is that if Stella is ready and capable, we get a backup setter in the portal. If Keegan doesn’t think she’s ready and a better setter comes available, it’s his job to get her here (which is what that poster was insinuating). Personally, I think Stella will be ready and will be a 4-year starter, but I’m also not at practice everyday, so it will be telling if we get a superstar setter in the portal.

I think things will improve starting next year! *fingers crossed *

Rumor has it that from her play in practice Stella is everything the fans have hoped for and more…
Highly highly doubt they’ll go with anyone else but her next season. We may not see what’s going on in practice but from a coaching perspective, she had a year to train with the team and learn the offensive system they want to run, better to go with the known if she’s performing up to expectations (and the little rumor birdies say that she is)
Side note: Anyone else see the amazing set to Schnichles she saved from the net in one of the more recent Instagram stories? It was some buttery goodness 🧈

No doubt that we will need a more experienced back-up setter but whether that player will beat Stella for the starting spot is another question. And yes she was one of the top 3 setter from HS last year and all 3 are top 10 players. Big ten will have a lot of fun in the next couple of years.

If anyone has access to prep dig, are you able to post MNs 2025 class rankings?
