NLI is for the next atheltic year, so by signing now, she has to enroll in the fall I believe. IN the article a few months ago, I thought she was just taking a gap year so maybe plans changed with Sophie's scholly now available. Even if she enrolls, wonder if she plays immediately or redshirts to take the reigns after Atherton.
No idea about Sophie. Heard one B1G school was head of the pack but also that UNC tried to reach back out.

Maylen IS enrolled for the fall of 2020....Sagula said "Mitrovich will join the Tar Heels in the fall to begin play for the 2020 season." Nice having Merkler come in the spring. So does Maylen compete in matches? I am assuming she redshirts to take the 5-1 reigns once Atherton leaves. Also sounds like Joe and CO will announce Reed and maybe a transfer or late signee in the spring. goheels.com/news/2019/11/14/volleyball-merkler-mitrovich-sign-national-letters-of-intent.aspx

Yeah... looks like Maylen re-classified - she wasn't going to play HS ball next fall so might as well get started with the Heels as soon as she can. Will be interesting if she sits the 2020 season out or they give her some court time. Not sure when her birthday is but she could potentially be only 17 when she steps on campus.
Also curious why Reed didn't sign and is waiting until Spring... any grumblings of her changing her mind?
Regarding Sophie... I have heard from a couple places that she is looking at the Big 10 as well... with PSU at the top of the interest list.

There is only need for a NLI if you have scholarship the first year. UNC players signing in Nov have scholarship the first year. The ones signing in the spring don't, although there can be some exceptions.

I do wonder who else Joe and Co are going after since he has said there will be more signings.....guessing a late commit, uncommitted top player, or a transfer. Most likely will be a pin.

Would be interesting if she went to Penn St as she'd most likely have to sit two years behind Horde and Gray.

It makes sense with Wine graduating Yes, but I had heard LaGarde was possibly redshirting for that role....but still we do need another pin.
