Yes.....we cannot take Duke lightly.....they have nothing to lose and they beat us at home last year. Stay focused and steady the course. Our future is very bright with Harrison leading the way. Duke is awful, just awful.

Can someone tell me more about this young lady? Is she a highly recruited DS? Just want to know the hype about her.

She was a Top 100 recruit at one time, not sure why she was not included as a Top 50....she is an OH for her high school and libero for Metro Club. Also in the USAV pipeline. She would make a very good libero in the ACC.

Gotta love Google! Like a previous poster indicated, she plays Libero for club (Metro Volleyball Club of DC) and she plays OH in high school. According to MaxPreps, she has been a 4yr varisty starter and recorded over 1,100 kills and 1,300 digs. I know she has also made the All-Met team 3 years in a row, which is the best players in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. It will likely be 4 years once the team is released for this year because she just led her team to a third straight Triple Crown, winning Conference, City, & State Championships, www.washingtonpost.com/sports/flint-hill-volleyball-gets-its-triple-crown--for-a-third-straight-year/2019/11/10/6d9a841c-03ea-11ea-ac12-3325d49eacaa_story.html . She was also on last summer's U.S. Girls' Youth National Training Team, www.teamusa.org/USA-Volleyball/Features/2019/June/20/USAV-Selects-Girls-Youth-National-Training-Team . Found an article on her in the Washington Post from last month, she seems legit. www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2019/10/29/sydney-reed-hates-losing-so-her-flint-hill-volleyball-career-has-gone-quite-all-right/

Heels win in a sweep, 26-24, 25-20, 25-20!
Fun fact: This is the first time since 2015 that UNC has actually won the first set in a match against Duke. And even achieving that tonight was a bit shaky. But this team is special. Go Heels!

that was a very messy match on both sides....but it always is.....this match is always an ugly defensive battle. Glad to see that we had both our block and back row going. Fradenburg has grown into a very good libero and oh my Wurl.....she is going to be such a good libero. Everyone pretty much had decent hitting percentages other than Cox and Tontai.....I really hope Cox can figure some things out this off season on offense because her defense on the block keeps her in. side note, our serving game is the best I have ever seen at Carolina. Oh, and we see what happens when we get Skyy more sets and spread our offense with 4 or 5 players with 8 or more kills.
All in all, I was impressed with our gritty play. we have come so far. Our future is bright and if we win out and finish 2nd, when we were chosen 5th, a lot of teams better hope we dont make the tourney bc we can definitely play spoiler. Next year I think we go from good to very good!

Love my Heels, but looking less likely they get in to the NCAA tourney.....unfortunately, RPI can go down by winning if your competition has a bad RPI. Because Duke is so bad, although we won, we went from 54 in RPI to 62.....and Wake and Va Tech are worse....it also didnt help that GA Tech beat ND which lowers our chance of taking second place alone. Looking like GA Tech and UNC may tie for 2nd and if the committee decides to take one of us, they won the head to head match up....If we do not get in, maybe we get a bid to the NIVC....that would be good to springboard us and give our young team some post season experience.
Otherwise, have to be really proud of how far the team has come. No doubt Harrison will be a 1st Team ACC selection with probably Fradenburg a 2nd teamer. I also see Howard and Austin as potential ACC Freshmen selections. Our future looks very bright for the forseeable future and we have a shot at a very good conference season and post season next year.

I was thinking the same thing. My heart kind of sank when I saw how much we dipped in RPI, even more so after GA Tech being ND. I think the rule for the NIVC is that the next highest team that doesn't make the NCAA tourney gets that automatic bid for their conference. In this case, it would be us if we win out. If this happens to be the case, I hope Joe accepts it. The energy that's on the court is so much better than early on this season. The girls really look like they are having fun and love playing with each other.
If only we could have a couple of those early non conference matches back. Even the GA Tech loss is still hard for me to swallow.

I wish the committee would take into account we were without Harrison and Peck for a good chunk of the pre season. then the GA Tech loss we did not have two starters including our libero. If we would have closed out and beat ND or UL on the road, which we could have done, we would be almost a lock....
Last year the ACC had two teams in the NIVC, Ga Tech and Clemson. Im still hoping Miami beats GA Tech this week.

I imagine they'll get offered an NIVC spot, especially if they're interested in ponying up to host.
As for injury consideration, I doubt UNC will be talked about in the committee room in the first place.

If GA Tech wins out and doesn't make the NCAA tournament, won't they be the ACC automatic qualifier for the NIVC (assuming they accept)? In that scenario, if they don't accept, doesn't the conference lose it automatic bid to the NIVC? Tar Heels could obviously still make the NIVC as an "at-large" selection.

ACC has had 2 selections in the NIVC since it started so I think if GA Tech still does not make tourney that there is a change GA Tech and UNC both get in. Just speculation.
