I have a different take. I think SSS allowed Minnesota to overcome some significant flaws. Their best chance at being better next year is for them to make major improvements with those flaws. I have no idea if they will. Fingers crossed.
And then they also need competent setting. Chances are slim they will have a setter of SSS's ability.

Is it fair to say the consistent Top 4 in B1G (in no particular order) is: Nebraska, Penn State, Minnesota, Wisconsin? Illinois's on the rise (they were certainly Top 4 material this past season), and Purdue/Michigan/Michigan State seem to be making a push.
I think Minnesota will be strong, but not 19-1 strong. I can see them splitting with Wisconsin or faring worse depending on how the team meshes. I'd argue Wisconsin has the fewest question marks in their lineup. MN has one huge question mark. Penn State will grow. Nebraska will need people to step up big time. Illinois is in a similar boat as MN but loses more players.
Actually, Illinois and Penn State have to deal with the post 4 year setter era as well. 2019 was quite setter heavy. But these things happen every year, so we'll see.
Also, what determines if a team in B1G plays another B1G team only once? I noticed MN played Illinois once, but Wisconsin, Nebraska and Penn State played them twice. And Illinois beat all of them on the second circuit. I thought it was an RPI thing, but that is almost certainly not the case.

I agree, she bailed MN out, and that definitely covered up the more defensive flaws. I do think the Barnes/McGraw combo is really, really good. They get their digs up. Rollins was good too, but I think hit a bump toward the end ("freshman mistakes" started to show). That said, she will be so much fun to watch grow next year and beyond. Cleaning up receive is important for everyone across the board, and digs could improve if blocks are sealed more. SSS was super fast and skillful. Like you said, I doubt there will be a similar bail-out, so they'll be forced to make adjustments that will be beneficial in the long run.

It's random, although it repeats the following year -- if a team only played another team once, at home, they play them once on the road. For example. Sucks. It is never fair. And it's worse now that they have teams playing the same team twice in the same half of the season. Sometimes back-to-back. The B1G Championship just doesn't mean as much anymore. I mean it's still a major accomplishment. It just doesn't tell you a lot about who were the actual best teams.

Wow that didn't take too long. Glad I got mine renewed since I think you got until April to do it.

If you already have season tickets, you still have until April to renew...I think the cap and waitlist is for new season ticket holders (i.e. if existing season ticket holders decide not to renew, some of the wait list people should get tickets).

"Wonder if you might pick up one of Minnesota's 15 outside hitters as a transfer. 😉" craftylefty Read more: volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/75964/wisconsin-badgers-2019?page=16#ixzz5dXF2ev00Not even close - Minnesota will have 7 (hopefully) and Shea Rubright who may end up as OH. Alexis Hart SR Jasmyn Martin JR Claire Sheehan JR Alice Zeimann JR Stephanie Samedy JR Airi Miyabe JR Adanna Rollins So
Since we seem to be done speculating on which and how many setters Minnesota will play next year perhaps we could speculate on which one of these could redshirt next year. We have 5 OH graduating in 2020 and only one true tall OH coming in 2020. Also no talls in 2021 (as far as I know). None are freshman; it would be very unconventional.

It was meant to be satirical, lol.
I could see where it could maybe make sense to redshirt one of the outsides this year though, as Minnesota does look pretty thin on the outsides after the current rising juniors graduate.
If I had to pick one? It's really hard to say. I feel Miyabe could be very good for us, especially defensively. It's hard to imagine Rollins and Hart not on the floor. Maybe Martin??

If Hart has aspirations of going pro/playing internationally after she graduates, she will badly need to improve her passing. Maybe a redshirt year (giving her another year of training/practice under Hugh & Co.) could be the ticket? ... Assuming we have another outside ready to jump into that spot. But again, it's hard to imagine her not being on the floor. Just blowing bubbles here. 🤗

April 15th is the deadline for season ticket renewal. From the linked article: "Season tickets have been capped in order to provide the opportunity for mini plans and single-match purchases for the 2019 season. Mini plans will be available in June. Single, non-premium matches go on sale in July, followed by premium matches in August, while tickets last. Additional season tickets may become available for purchase after the upgrade process in late May. Should seats become available, individuals on the wait list will be contacted in order of their Gopher Score Rank. Once the season ticket inventory has been exhausted for the 2019 season, those on the wait list will be rolled over to the 2020 season."

Not 2019 related, but Santana is having a knee surgery as we speak. Hoping for a speedy recovery and comeback! I have no doubt that she will put in whatever work necessary to be back on the court again ASAP.

Interesting point. I'd vote Martin or Miyabe. The 2020s (not including Samedy) all get one year to fill Hart's spot. Martin has experience with the team and has gotten time, but from what I've seen needs to see the block better. An RS for her could make for a really good senior campaign. Miyabe will be new to D1, so giving her a RS could maximize her growth in a shorter period of time at D1 level. Is Martin planning to continue playing after graduation? If not, then maybe RS Miyabe in this hypothetical scenario. I'm guessing Miyabe would be playing for Japan afterward.
