Maybe she just always had a dream to be a Gator and now she gets that chance? In the UF article about her transfer, the interview with her high school coach makes reference to T always wanting to play in her home state and for the Gators. Everyone takes different routes, however that route may be, good or bad.

Ceasar ain't riding the bench. Personally, I think Hammons is better suited in a DS role ala Annika Albrecht, but in the front row, Ceasar is unmatched. Albrecht as a 6 rotation OH seemed to work out well. If Hammons is good enough to be a DS - then her value as a 6 rotation OH that can hit .250+ is very valuable. Especially on a team with a big time scorer such as Hall.

floridagators.com/news/2019/2/7/volleyball-seven-gators-named-to-sec-fall-academic-honor-roll.aspxSeven Gators Named to SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll By Katie Callahan GAINESVILLE, Fla. ā The University of Florida's volleyball team proved its success both on and off the court as seven student-athletes were named to the SEC Fall academic honor roll, as the league announced Thursday. Between volleyball, cross country, football and soccer, Florida had an astounding 90 student-athletes named to the Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll. On the field, the Gators finished 26-7 overall and 15-3 in the SEC on their way to the NCAA Regional Semifinal. Three players earned AVCA All-America honors and four were named All-SEC. Any student-athlete who participates in a Southeastern Conference championship sport or a student-athlete who participates in a sport listed on his/her institution's NCAA Sports Sponsorship Form is eligible for nomination to the Academic Honor Roll. The following criteria will be followed: (1) A student-athlete must have a grade point average of 3.00 or above for either the preceding academic year (two semesters or three quarters) or have a cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution. (2) If a student-athlete attends summer school, his/her grade point average during the summer academic term must be included in the calculation used to determine eligibility for the Academic Honor Roll. (3) Student-athletes eligible for the Honor Roll include those receiving an athletics scholarship, recipients of an athletics award (i.e., letter winner), and non-scholarship student-athletes who have been on a varsity team for two seasons. (4) Prior to being nominated, a student-athlete must have successfully completed 24 semester or 36 quarter hours of non-remedial academic credit toward a baccalaureate degree at the nominating institution. (5) The student-athlete must have been a member of a varsity team for the sport's entire NCAA Championship segment. For her career, it's no higher than .167 (if you exclude matches where she only had one attempt). Nebraska (2): -.059 Texas (6): .071 USC (13): .000 Louisville (31): .211 (on 1.5 kps) UCF (34): .095 @fsu (29): .154 @scar (41): .316 (on 1.6 kps) Mizzou (28): .231 (on 1.8 kps) @kentucky (7): .133 @tennessee (21): .031 SCAR (41): .265 (on 4+ kps) FSU (29): .455 (on 5+ kps - probably the best offensive performance of her career) BYU (3): .028

She had 2 rotations of her front row with Marlie setting who gave very poor left side sets. Very very poor.

Those 1st three matches were brutal (.017) and going through her 1st 6 matches she was only hitting .088.
Here is some breakdown of her hitting by different categories:
Non Conference (not counting the NCAA Tournament) - .201 Conference - .246 NCAA Tournament - .248
Interesting that the average Pablo ranking of the nonconference opponents was higher (104) than the conference (77) or tournament (29). Her tournament performance was pretty good in those 3 matches against good teams. The 10 errors against BYU hurt.
Home - .265 Road - .185 Neutral - .300
Hammons struggled on the road - but there was some pretty tough road matches in Nebraska, BYU, Kentucky, Tennessee.
vs. Pablo Top 13 - .048 vs. Pablo 20-35 - .208 vs. Pablo 41-73 - .262 vs. Pablo 90+ - .319
I guess this is the issue.

If there are concerns about sample size, it should really be on the one outlier performance against FSU. The 2017 stats don't tell a different story either.
Anyways, my whole point here is that there is a bizarre disregard among Gator fans of the need for another OH who can score points against top teams. There's also a lot of sniping at Caesar in this thread among people defending their favorites. There's a reason Mary brought in this transfer... just sayin'

VT posters have been doubting Hammons, Monserez, Soko and Greer for the last couple years. I think the sniping is a right of passage if you are going to be a Gator.

There's a reason Mary brought in this transfer... just sayin' Unless there were dire/strange circumstances around her departure, I agree - I don't think she would be transferring to sit the bench. Even if there were extraneous reasons, she could've walked on to other T-25 programs and started easily. However, I don't think it's as simply as "replace Hammons in the front row." Hall hit .198 on the year (I believe she was hitting .190 before her injury), almost .040 lower than Hammons. IIRC, the Florida setters last year had issues setting the LS, and often only set them OOS. If Florida can clean up its setting next year, I think there's value in playing Hammons 6-rotations. If not, maybe they need a banger like Caesar who can deal with crappy sets.

well, playing time for who you WANT to see on the floor notwithstanding, if she helps Florida win more, then it's a good thing, right?
