Florida has a grudge match with NAU...at sea level this time, and with plenty of oxygen for everyone involved.

That's my baby girl. Ended with 11 blocks and 1 dig shy of a double double. Total team effort but glad to see the front line girls are finding touches on balls this year.

Mississippi State looking to close on their 3rd pre-SEC tournament championship this evening. Beat Jackson State in 3 and University of North Florida in 5 yesterday. Playing University of Alabama -Birmingham today at 5.
With their win yesterday they have already DOUBLED their wins from last season (...and I'm happy about it!)

JRobinson
Bias aside how much improvement have you seen out of Miss State?? The schedule just doesnât give a good indication of where they actually are in terms of improvement

JRobinson Bias aside how much improvement have you seen out of Miss State?? The schedule just doesnât give a good indication of where they actually are in terms of improvement **Bias aside I think, as a team, they are better than last year. The middles are one of the strengths that they need to depend more on. They take the least amount of swings and have the highest percentages. Blocks are much improved! The right side position is stronger than last year. Waden is phenomenal!!! The setter/hitter connection isn't as strong (so far) as last year. The setter does a good job attacking from the front but at times she attacks when she should set and depend on her hitters. OH is a little worrisome for me right now. Both are underclassmen who are on and off. Consistency will come but it's nice having other options in front this year that wasn't prevalent last year. Our weakest spot right now is our back row defensive specialists. The main reason for this is because we have one starter out for the season and another starter out for some time. 1st touch, and picking up tips, is a struggle right now for Freshman who are stepping in and taking on a heavy load. I applaud these Freshmen because, having one last year, I know how difficult it is for the High School to college switch. Once we get 1st touch down, and have hitting options, I think they can take a couple SEC teams down this year. Last year we lost a lot of 5 set matches...I think they'll pull through and win many of those this year. Hoping to take down a top tier SEC team since this looks to be the year of the upsets so far.

JRobinson, good luck to your daughter and Mississippi State this year. Well, except for when they are playing Mizzou, let it be another top tier team they upset.

From the very little I have seen they look better but have played anyone IMO to form a solid opinion either way on how much they have improved. If first touch doesnât improve then middle connection wonât happen more unless in freeball situations sadly I have really wanted the bottom of the SEC to improve our OOC conference in not only win percentage but quality competition. Only Missouri Kentucky and Florida have set solid OOC schedules in the last couple of years. TAMU did for two years and it bit the old coaching staff in the butt one season.

Mississippi State finishes off 11-1 leading into SEC play beating UAB in 5 sets. Sole loss coming during a 10am game against Stetson where our errors were numerous. Congrats ladies and looking forward to SEC play.
