you put Cacciamani over Walsh... a player that won twice as many Nattys and was the 4 time first team all american... hmmm I thought Terri was a better middle than Lauren... and she even knocked a girls tooth out Misty May over Lauren Cacciamani as well... Logan Tom Over Megan Hodge in the 2000-2009 ... no contest... i'm picking Logan and she only played 3 years in the 2000s Hancock and Plummer is a toss up... can we say tie and put them on a beach team? that could be fun to watch

Logan Tom easily is still the best player of the decade. Have yet to see a player of her caliber today in terms of all-around game.

Cacciamani was a fantastic player, but Misty May and Kerri Walsh are CLEARLY above her, and you could easily argue a couple others as well. Hodge and Tom is pretty tough. Tom is the greatest indoor player internationally that has ever played for the US. Won 2 titles in 3 years. Hodge won 3 in 4 years, but she also had a slightly better team around her.

You usually dont act like the biggest hancock fan (at least it seems that way) so i cant tell if youre being serious or not I don't like her game, but her ability to impact matches at an incredibly high level in college was undeniable. Ahh I see. Thank you. But I do agree. The way hancock alone could change a match was just outstanding and I dont think well see that for quite some time

Walsh was great from the get go, but her championships came in her first two years. May took two seasons to develop as a setter, but was unrivaled in her last two seasons. Logan is an all-time great, but college Hodge had a spectacular career entirely in the 2000's.

Lost on the second weekend her sophomore year, Won her junior year agains Long Beach State, Lost to a really Stacked USC team in the National Championship her senior year... Penn State and Hodge had a much more stacked team than Logan's Stanford teams were ... defense and serve receive puts Logan far above Hodge .

No player was more impactful than Hancock. She could (and would) completely change the course of a match from the service line and would've been in a position to win three titles if not for that ankle injury in the 2012 semi. In fact... 2010-2019: Hancock 2000-2009: Hodge 1990-1999: Cacciamani Hmm... coincidence? Cacciamani the best player of the 90's? ummmm no.

"Tom is the greatest indoor player internationally that has ever played for the US" may be your opinion, but there are many USA opposing international coaches that would give that nod to Hooker. No US player was more terminal or game planned around stopping than Hooker the last 20 years. Depending on your age, or how far back you followed volleyball many might also argue that Hyman was the greatest US indoor player internationally because she was so dominant and brought USA to a new level of volleyball.

Neither Hodge or Tom would have given up National Championship point to an out of system down ball hit to them... Hooker... Yeah... She did that... #teamTom

ARE WE TALKING COLLEGE? ALSO DECADE IS 10 YEARS ... CENTURY IS 100... SO HODGE, HOOKER, KIM W. wouldn't apply if we were talking college... hodge and hooker were 09 last seasoners... Alix Klineman 2010 is stellar Bricio was pretty gosh darn incredible Hancock was a threat from the service line, second ball dishing and attacking (solid candidate) Lutz as a right side (4 time all american) that's pretty dominating and consistant Vansant was lethal Inky was an animal Foecke is clutch Lichtman was a triple double machine it's pretty hard to say because the high school classes of 2005 and 2006 were some of the highest level volleyball players to play at the college game(college and international and usavolleyball success wise too those two classes turned USAvolleyball around) so after 09 (hodge and hooker) no one really stood out for a bit... i think this years junior class is high level all around Yes, a decade is 10 years. So, the last 10 years of college volleyball includes 2009. So, I included them in my thinking. I don't deal with the arbitrary '00s or '10s definition of decades. Because, I do what I want I think that this discussion has demonstrated that either I have criminally underrated Hancock because I judge an individual's greatness on their own merit rather than team accomplishment, or you are all way overvaluing her. Obviously, I think it's the latter. The number of national championships (or major championships, World Series wins, Super Bowl wins, etc., etc.) is almost irrelevant to me in choosing best players. It's still like saying Trent Dilfer was a better QB than Dan Marino. It's just absurd. I don't say that to cut Hancock down. She is phenomenal. However, at her position I'd probably choose at least 3 setters over her on individual excellence (Carlini, SSS, Poulter). Though, no servers. That was pure magic.

If you're looking at international volleyball, and especially looking at the last 10 years, Larson also has to be in the conversation. Speaking of opposing international coaches, I can't find the interviews (probably because they were in Turkish), but Guidetti has referred to her as the best American player and the best all-around player in the world.
