I wonder how much time Hawaii's coaches have spent looking at video of Purdue matches as opposed to Colorado State matches prior to making the trip.

I wonder how much time Hawaii's coaches have spent looking at video of Purdue matches as opposed to Colorado State matches prior to making the trip. I know that Purdue has spent NO time preparing for Hawaii (so says John Shondell). He expects it to be a late night for the coaches (maybe they'll get to bed by 5 he says). I would expect much of the same for Hawaii coaches.

Congrats to Purdue.
As for Mary, I'm sure she's happy for her alma mater and I'm sure she still stands by her comments.
However, just because they won still doesn't mean they should've been in the tournament. Should Washington State have been in the tournament because they beat USC? Purdue proved they could beat some good teams, but they also proved they could lose to some really bad teams. If Arkansas wins tomorrow, I will still say they weren't deserving of being in.

Washington State didn't have enough wins to be eligible for playing in the tournament.

Yeah, you'd prefer to bring in a team that has doesn't have a chance of winning any match (unless, of course, they can be paired up against a weak east coast team). But they have shown through the year that they are very capable of losing to bad teams.

uhhhhh.. Washington State didn't have enough wins to be eligible for playing in the tournament. Ok, then how about Creighton. They beat a top 16 seed in Missouri, they should be in. They have a record over .500 and have 2 good wins, to offset their 2 really bad losses. Why aren't they in? No one in their right mind would argue for them to be in? Again, nice win for Purdue, but it still doesn't justify their inclusion. I guess Kentucky and Northwestern would beat Colorado State too?

I wouldn't have had a problem with Creighton getting selected. Kentucky probably ought to have been in the tournament instead of Florida though since you like the Wildcats so much.

Why would you say that? Only to be stupid, I guess. And Creighton does have two good wins, over Missouri and Wichita St. But they have two very bad losses, and quite a few more not good losses, either. And if Purdue had two good wins, I wouldn't care. But they don't. For one, they also beat Missouri. Thus, cancel that Creighton win. Then Purdue has 4 more good wins, to Creighton's 1. Even if we call the bad losses equal (Creighton lost twice, for example, to Northern Iowa, a team that isn't all that much better than Northwestern, if that). Etc. So compared to Creighton, Purdue comes out the better. You still haven't gotten through your head that you can't just say "they should be in, they should not be in." You have to say, replace them with X. And then provide a reason why the team you want in is more qualified than the team you want out. Once again, you bring up a team that has just as bad of losses as Purdue, but without the quality of wins. That's a piss poor way to argue that Purdue doesn't belong.

Gentlemen, gentlemen: decorum must be preserved (t least on opening night). For example, I am sure no one is snickering out loud about what news has drifted out of Colorado Springs (or Beserkeley).

And I pretty much predict an easy win for FAMU tomorrow. Didn't use that logic to get there, but one could. I just look at what FAMU does well and their strengths are Florida's weaknesses. I don't know if they'll sweep, but they will win, in 4 at the most and the games they do win won't be all that close.
