I'll drop in on Tuesday's stream with Redlands considering that I used to live there. Just for old times sake. Who need baseball?

Bummer... they have a link to the streaming site but the Redlands game is not on the schedule. It will have to be another time. Or maybe it is, I refiltered the list and the game appeared. I will try to catch it.

In the photo above, you know that Lauren Li is really thinking about her differential equations problem sets.

They have all passed Differential Equations nothing compared to P-Chem. My first year at a school near Sand Hill Road (that's my equivalent of "I went to school in Boston"), my next door dorm neighbor told me that was the only class he struggled with. And this is a guy who had next to his phone a little black box with a toggle switch on it. It emitted a tone that would tell the AT&T/Pacbell switching station to open an international circuit. He could call anywhere in the world for free. Thirty years later I'm watching a documentary on Wozniak and Jobs. Woz tells the story about how they had gone into the stacks at the library, and found the Manual for that AT&T switch... and built that box. It had been handed down over two or three years and my neighbor was the custodian for that year.

And, BTW, those back to back losses to Antelope Valley were all because AV has a ringer who hits a very heavy ball (like Kathryn Plummer).

Re the AV player: it was more her craftiness than her arm swing. She is reminiscent of Julia Zwaal who graduated from Pomona Pitzer last season - very diverse hitter who did consistent damage with her finesse game.

A heavy ball and finesse -- that's a nightmare for the opposing team
