Megan is really good. Taller than average, and hits hard. I'd rank her in the top 10 for 2022's. She's really grown the last few years, so perhaps she might have been gone unnoticed by other coaches before this point. I believe she's the top ranked AVP high school player in the country. Plus, she's one of the few junior players that have made an effort this year to get out to these AVP opens and compete.

Megan is actually class of 2021. She was noticed very early and committed to Hawaii as a freshman in February 2018 before NCAA put restrictions on committing players before June of their Sophomore year. She is naturally left handed but is ambidextrous and I have seen her demolish some balls with her right.

2021 roster has now been posted hawaiiathletics.com/sports/womens-beach-volleyball/roster/2021Additions include the 5 known freshmen (Bogle, Glagau, Rau-Kim, Santer, Smith, junior college transfer Lea Kruse including OCC transfer Lily Johnson who committed last May. Also the return of indoor players Van Sickle, Gong, Wagoner and now newbies Akana, Igiede, Kiraly Krug and Rasmussen only non-returning players. Definitely going to be a young team and will be interesting to see who will pair up together

Truly excited for this season and I’m grateful we are going to have a beach season! I cannot wait for Coach Ang to lead the charge, and I’m sure she’s going to be amazing.
A few things I found out:
- Rau-Kim played significantly with Hardisty in many tournaments. - Rau-Kim reminds me of Kan. Kan is 5’9” and Rau-Kim is 5’6” but boy can she swing and dig. She’s a fantastic defender. - Hardisty is a beast in the indoor, and I’m confused why she’s not the one crossing over. Hardisty is an undersized, all-around player. She has highlights on YouTube. - Bogle and Smith play really well together. I find it difficult to imagine they’re playing separately. - Santer’s highlights are jaw dropping. I see a bright future for her!
We have fantastic defenders but we lack taller players this season. Really looking forward to Leoniak and 2021 recruits!
I have yet to reassess everything and check their practices more to predict and enlist my dream pairings/flights. So far here’s what I want:
> Loker/Napoleon (Flight 1 or F2) > Santer/Huddleston (F1 or F2) > Rau-Kim/Hardisty (F4 or F5) > Bogle/Smith (F3 or F4) > Glagau/Van Sickle (F2 or F3) > Russo/Hanneman (F4 or F5) > Johnson/Kruse (F4 or F5)

I do believe that Loker may indeed be one of the taller players who has the most D1 collegiate experience in this group. Also, I believe that Maidment and Kekauoha should put themselves in the mix as well, but I'm just excited that there is going to be a beach season!

Today was the SandBows first day of practice, and it appears that Loker is in a boot

My Dream Pairings pre-season pics:
1-Kaylee/Pani 2-Jaime/Brooke 3-Harlee/Lea 4-Amber/Ilihia 5-Kylin/Anna
Kaylee and Jaime bring so much to the table as newcomers, they pull like veterans and focused to win, Pani and Brooke....best defenders with uncanny court IQ, Harlee’s mean left and speed compliment Lea which makes a good solid 3, Amber’s (yes the famous middle Amber) powerful presence at the net combined with Ilihias savvy ball control is a powerful 4, and Loker (hopefully a quick healer) with Anna a strong 5 can split block. We need 3 wins every tournament to make it to Alabama...it’s doable. These pics are mainly from the passion, drive, and skill displayed during practice, games, and video, we’ll see how it changes as their training continues.

The 3 wins seem doable with that squad.

I agree with Ilihia having such a savvy ball control. I am hoping she'd be partners with Leoniak next year at F2 or even F1. She did so well with Hellvig.

Where the heck is Maia Hanneman? She went from being in flight #2 to the bench in one year?? Hannemann is going to be in the top 3 with somebody. Maybe Kylin and Maia. Kylin is too low on the flights Maybe Madi Bogle will be part of the flights instead of Amber(who is not really a beach player).

Kylin is too low on the flights Maybe Madi Bogle will be part of the flights instead of Amber(who is not really a beach player). Yeah, I don’t see Hanneman not making the pairings or something is messed up in my opinion. I always believed Huddleston should and deserves to be in the top flights. She is a very good defender as well. She is wasted at flight #4 and that would be a gift to Igiede. I am more interested in her playing where she deserves which is at least flight #3 (even as high as flight #2). She would pair well with Santer or Glagau or even Harlee. Kaylee should also be in a top flight. I actually do like her with Pani. Agree that Jaime is a strong player (and needed for height) - I do think would be a good match for Brooke or Ilihia (Brooke at #3 if Huddleston at #2 depending on chemistry). b Loker also (injury-free) deserves to be in a higher flight than flight #5. I think she’s a player who plays better than she practices. She’s also very beach savvy and I think is underestimated by some. She’s not that tall, but is a decent blocker (she is not a great defender/split blocker IMO). Loker should be at flight 4 - maybe with Lea, but she would also do well with Hanneman, Maidment or Huddleston as defenders. Flight #3 is a pivotal flight and I really think Huddleston has to be in that flight. sandjunkie where are these videos you are referring to (as having watched)? You have only done one post but seem to have a bit of an in to the team?

Yes, Loker and Pani have been partners 2019 (prior to the big shakeup when Morgan and Amy split to make Maglio/Ozee at #1 and Martin/Napoleon at #3 behind Scoles and Homayun (#2). Loker stayed at #4 and Hi’ilawe Huddleston. Loker and Napoleon played well together, but I am not sure they would be a number 1 pair.
