Micah Ma'a has signed with Stade Poiteven Poitiers in the French Ligue A. It is looking like he is signed to play setter as their setter this year signed with Lokomotiv Novosibirsk. Is it official

a pre game interview or conversation with the coaching staff... So now, with no evidence, the insinuation is that one of the USA staff members spoke to a foreign media member about THEIR own athlete's athlete's future being in doubt, as to if he will ever come back to his previous level. STOP. 🤪 so why would they report it in the first place? did USAV debunk such claim?

It hasn’t even been a year! And unless he was cooking dinner for his girlfriend in Russia tonight, 😜 it looks like he’s sitting out another week of VNL, which is not surprising.

I finally got around to watching all of the Week 1 matches. Some general thoughts: DeFalco was lights out and really stepped up across the board. Ma’a is such an amazing all around player. His passing was a bit shaky vs Australia but he was so aggressive in serve and at the net. I actually like the idea of him developing as an OH. The more versatile he is will really help him get picked up by good teams in his Pro Career. The only downside is that he could plateau and not ever really excel at either setting or hitting. Stahl has really impressed me! He is second on the best blocker stats for the first weekend with 10 stuffs. He isn’t credited with any rebounds which is why he isn’t top of the list. I like his energy, his speed to the pins and his serve is very deceptive. The race to fill the other two MB slots behind Holt just got interesting. Tuaniga hasn’t done anything too wrong but hasn’t done anything spectacular. His serve is just ok, his blocking isn’t great and in my opinion (like K. Shoji) is a blocking liability. He plays pretty good defense and has an awesome scrappy play style paired with insane ball control which I like. His sets to the Pipe are a little low/mistimed but otherwise his sets are pretty good. He doesn’t have to be great....yet....but he really should be trying to supplant Shoji at this point. Ensing will only get better with time against stiffer competition. I think I like him more than I do Kyle Russell. I hope they both travel to Russia this week so I can see more of them before making a decision. Neither of them have shown the power and athleticism of Patch but Ensing was the best blocker of the two Opp’s playing this week. Russell didn’t stand out in any category for me so far. Plus his hairstyle and porn stache are just gross 😂 Muagututia needs to go away. I would have taken Brendan Sander over him. Smith is hanging in there but to me he had way too many missed connections with both Shoji and Tuaniga for comfort and he is pretty slow to read the setter across the net. This is a problem. Stahl definitely was the best. Jendryk was slower than molasses and his serve isn’t tough enough. It is always good to have a float serve in the rotation but it needs to be more deceptive. He is at the bottom of the MB heap for me. I would like to see Ma’a start at Setter and I want to see these new young Liberos in action. If what has been said about Jaeschke is true than I think Ma’a would round out the 4th OH slot nicely. Poor Langlois didn’t play at all. Boohoo 😒😜 Gonna disagree with you on one thing here....Kyle Russell was looking fine as hell and we all know it

K. Russell definitely wasn’t terminal but he was decently efficient in attack only. Blocking, serving and defensively he was lackluster.
Ensing brings more to the table in my opinion and he helps with passing. Once he develops some overseas and gets more confident on offense he will do just fine.

What I have learned from scouring the foreign press for volleyball news is that we will more than likely get reliable news quicker from overseas than USAV will announce. This was the case the Jaeschke's injury when it initially happened. The Italian press had a statement from Verona saying that he tore his ACL much earlier than USAV. It was also reported in Italy sometime in the late winter or early spring that the recovery was not as fast as had hoped, and he will not be playing this year.
I think with that being the case it is a pretty safe assumption that he is not quite match fit. Maybe he is. If he were ready to go, Speraw and Co. might want him to dress out, see the court, and get touches at full-speed.
I am not as concerned for next summer. I think he will be starting at Verona and the club season will get him to as good as he is going to be. In my mind, I think it will be pretty top notch.

The OP post inside.volleycountry.com was the statement "Jaeschke didnt recover well after surgery and he still has shape problems. He meant that his (high level) comeback is doubtful." I dont like nor appreciate that kind of comment on a young athlete's career. It can be damaging and one that appears to have grown traction in the rumor mill. Thats what fired me up. As some of you have reposted , we expect a full recover and for him to be ready at the end of the summer. That is what I expect and hope too. We will know....when we know....the rest is just poppycock.
