ROUGH go around for this Big Ten so far this weekend. Especially less-than impressed with Wisconsin and Minnesota. I'm sure both will get rolling by the time B1G play begins, but dang.

Maybe we’ll beat Wisconsin one time again this year... or maybe Minnesota!

Everyone in the country knows the Big 10 is the best conference, but this is a BAD week. For the Big 10 to already have 11 losses so far this week is eye popping. And they still have the following matchups left to play this week- Nebraska v. San Diego, MSU v. Tennessee, Illinois v. Colorado, Iowa v. Washington, Michigan v. Dayton, Florida v. Minnesota, Penn State v. LSU, Rutgers v. Virigina...... I'm not saying all of those end in losses, but for the conference to potentially have upward of 20 losses on the week would be something nobody would have predicted.

Definitely a tough week for the B1G. I've watched many of the streamed or broadcast matches and what I see is that more teams across the country now have great players and quality coaching staffs than ever before. A couple years ago, I predicted that despite the dominance up to that point of the power conferences and the traditional great programs, parity was starting and that we'd soon see "The Revenge of the Also Rans". Well, it's here.
With the temporary exception of Plummer University, I don't think you can say that any match between teams in the top 15, maybe 20, is really very much of an upset any more. My advice to fans of the traditional great powers: be grateful, and be humble...it'll soften the blow when you too get knocked down.

I don't know about it being unpredictable. A lot of talent graduated from conference schools last year, particularly at Illinois and Minnesota but others also.

I think last year was such an exceptional year that replicating it will be near impossible. This time last year Wisconsin: 4-0, Illinois: 5-0, Minnesota: 5-0, PSU 5-0, Nebraska 4-1, ie, a combined 23-1 record. The leagues Power Team's 5 losses so far this year come with Nebraska at San Diego and Illinois against Colorado still yet to play.
Next week's preseason doesn't get any easier. Wisconsin has Washington twice, Minn plays Florida, Oregon and Stanford, Illinois has Marquette, PSU has Oregon, Stanford and Pitt twice and Nebraska has Stanford.
