State Rankings are back out
D1 1. Sachem North (Sec. XI) 2. McQuaid (Sec. V) 3. Lindenhurst (Sec. XI) 4. Penfield (Sec. V) 5. Shen (Sec. II)
HM - Cicero-North Syracuse, Connetquot, Suffern
Have to say that I think they did a pretty good job with D1 rankings. Personally, I'd move Shen up to #3 and move Lindenhurst and Penfield down 1 after a pretty dominant sweep over Penfield last weekend. Cicero-North Syracuse also has a pretty good argument to be #4 or even #3, as they are undefeated with wins over WNY #1 Canisius in 4 and Penfield in 5. Sachem North will be really tough for anyone to knock off from what I saw at the capital center last year (returned 6 starters), and what they've done this season.
D2 1. Bellmore JFK (Sec. XI) 2. Burnt Hills (Sec. II) 3. Victor (Sec. V, VICTOR IS NOT D2, WHY THEY ARE RANKED, I CAN'T ANSWER) 4. West Hampton (Sec. XI) 5. Eden (Sec. VI)
HM - Oswego, West Seneca, Eastchester, East Hampton
The D2 rankings are an absolute mess. Bellmore JFK who has a losing record is ranked #1, and Churchville and Grand Island (possible the top 2 D2 teams in the state aren't even receiving votes). In my opinion, here's a top 6 for D2.
1. Churchville-Chili (Sec. V) 2. Grand Island (Sec. VI) 3. Eden (Sec. VI) 4. Burnt Hills (Sec. II) 5. West Seneca West (Sec. VI) 6. West Hampton (Sec. XI)

In Puerto Rico Canisius lost to host San Ignacio in 3 in the Finals. Canisius beat Mcquaid in the semis but McQuaid may have lost their best player(arguably the or one of the best in the State) for a while due to injury. Fingers crossed that is not the case. What ended up happening with him? Are you talking about the Wickens kid? Don't know much about this year's McQuaid team, although they seem to be Sachem's toughest competition.

This week's notable results (Monday-Thursday)
Section 1 - Suffern def Eastchester (3-1; 22-25, 25-22, 25-17, 25-16) Section 3 - Cicero-North Syracuse def Fayetteville-Manlius (3-1; 25-23, 25-17, 24-26, 25-22) Section 5 - Penfield def Fairport (3-1; 25-15, 25-19, 24-26, 25-19) Section 6 - Grand Island def West Seneca West (3-0; 25-23, 25-13, 25-9)
Upcoming matches this week (Friday-Wednesday), Most Sectional Tournaments Underway by end of next week
Section 2 - Shenendehowa (16-0) @ Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake (14-1) (Tuesday 10/29 @ 5:30pm) Section 5 - Penfield @ Victor (12-4) (Friday 10/25 @ 6:30pm) Section 6 - Eden (14-0) @ Canisius (13-1) (Friday 10/25 @ 6:30pm) Section 8 - Lindenhurst (10-1) @ Eastport-South Manor (10-2) (Thursday 10/24 @ 6:30pm)
***Eden-Canisius is a huge game out in WNY. The games in Sections 2/5 are de facto league championship games. A BHBL win over Shen would see the two finish as co-champions (Shen swept BHBL earlier in the year), and Penfield clinches their league with a win over Penfield. ESM needs a win over Lindenhurst to avoid playing Sachem North in the Section XI semifinals.
