Yeah, wow. And somebody in the top group will get Pavan in their first match. Lucky them.

Also, just realized that Brit and Maria Salgado are not playing together anymore. Maria is back with Caitlin Ledoux.

Anyone know why the youngsters Kraft/Maple are not playing? Both play indoors for Torrey Pines so I assume they are done for the summer with beach and focusing on indoor season. They have a game and tournament a few days after the AVP MBO so I think their bodies won't hold up to do both.

Oh for the days of Sinjin and Karch forfeiting the first round due to a national team practice then playing the rest of the event and back to practice on Monday. Sounds like typical adult BS, prioritizing juniors or high school over the MBO? Maybe its their choice and if so no worries, but its an odd choice and no mistaking it

Hard to believe they’d voluntarily skip MBO, especially the way they’ve played in other AVP events. I bet G2 is right. Probably some over-controlling club coach threatening to bench them if they play beach.

Those points are a mess. AVP really needs to work on this system. Consider these three teams: 1) Qualified one, finished last 2) Qualified twice, won winner's bracket games in both events 3) Played one event, finished 2nd Those teams are in order for how many points they have.

Volleyball at Torrey Pines High is a big deal, they’re key players, so the bikinis go in the closet until December. They’re literally kids, and have like twenty MBO’s in their futures. They already have schollies locked up, so they can enjoy playing indoor with their high school friends and chase an indoor state championship. I don’t see anything untoward about any of that.

High school kids in season should not be playing beach imo, or any other commitments. Lots of reasons. I'm sure every one has their own opinion on that.

I don’t see anything untoward about any of that. this reminds me of the discussion on here about a year ago about why Sponcil stayed at UCLA for her Sr. year when it had already become clear she would be an elite FIVB player. Some said she was wasting her talents, and gave Ana Patricia as an example of a player who didn't even go to college but has made a phenomenal living of beach volleyball. Different discussion, but really the same issue -- how quickly do elite athletes have to grow up and become professional? How many childhood/college experiences are they allowed before it is deemed to be "wasting talent"?

As long as it’s the kids’ decision. I’ve seen way too many club coaches who think they own their youth players and the schedules of their families. If these girls wanted to take a couple days off indoor practice to play MBO, they should be allowed to do so without repercussions.

This isn’t club, though (but I don’t disagree about overly controlling club coaches). And unless the CIF has changed its rules recently, playing in the MBO - after indoor high school practices have begun - would be considered “outside competition,” which would likely mean a season-long suspension from high school ball. Something I completely forgot to mention in my previous post.

Not according to CIF. Again, unless they’ve changed the rules in the past year or so, as I haven’t kept up with the current regulations.
