Pre-set sectionals are a complete joke, this needs to be fixed. Come Green Bay, it will not be the top 8 teams in the state playing. Rather, whoever was lucky enough to be placed in a sectional with little or no competition. It is sad that either CMH or Waukesha West will not make state because of the fact that they were placed in the same sectional, being two of the top 6 teams in the state.

Section 8 is a toss up. Whoever is on top of their game, Pius or either East will win. TEast has the best player in the section, Pius the best Defense and Brook East is the most complete team by a hare over Pius, but played them to a standstill the three times those two teams have played. Literally any of the three matches could have gone either way.
Pius at tournaments is not quite the team they are at a dual. They have few subs fly all over the court and do get a little tired physically and emotionally, so the WFB tournament loss to Tosa East is not as significant as it looks. In a 5 set match they should stay fresh.
Brook East lost to Tosa East in 3 at Kettle Moraine, then beat them in 4 at Tosa the following week. It seems that the Brook East win at CMH in 3 gave them the ease to get the #1 seed. With all three teams beating each other, results vs top teams and bad losses probably came into play.
Tosa West and Brook Central will need to catch lightning in a bottle to win the section, but each has a longshot chance to come through. Tosa West lost in 5 at Tosa East and in 4 at Brook East, and beat Brook Central in 5 in a reverse sweep last week at West. Central has been improving throughout the season and has a great Junior setter, who should be all conference, who makes everyone on the team better.

I think we can all put Germantown and MUHS in Green Bay.
Middleton probably pretty safe, though Madison Memorial will make them work for it.
Oddly, Kimberly is the best team in the state but has to beat Appleton North to get there. Strong probability, but not a lock, that Kimberly wins the section.
The rest are really interesting.
CMH and Waukesha West may come down to which ever team got a better night's sleep. The two teams are that close.
I think it comes down to Muskego and Franklin, (I like Franklin 15-13 in the 5th) but neither team is strong enough to ensure that a different team altogether does not make it to GB
I think it comes down to East vs East, but Pius has just as good a chance and Brook East serve receive may be their Achilles heel resulting in a Tosa West/Brook Central V Pius final.
Kenosha Indian Trail should make it out, but I think "the field" has just as good a chance. KIT is the 5th most likely team to get to GB.
Top seeds at state. Kimberly/Appleton North. Germantown. MUHS and CMH/Waukesha West
While I like Kimberly, either of the top 4 seeds, Middleton and East/Pius/East have at least a chance to win it all.

And I'll throw it out there, is there any debate that Landon Krause is POY? Or do we just move on to the rest of the boys that should be all state.

This is the debate EVERY year. There are always sectionals that are not good and others that are stacked. Nothing is going to change unfortunately.

Landon is pretty dang good, obviously one of the top contenders, but what about Spellman? Markes? Parker from Middleton is a name that should be and is being talked about. I think that there are probably a few names that I’m missing, but those were the ones that came to mind.

Greater Metro conference features 4 top ten teams in action. GTown vs Tosa East and BEast vs MUHS. Losers will play a second match for 3rd and 4th place. However if it is East vs East for 3rd I'll bet that neither coach will play starters. Very possible that they meet up in the sectional final. I'd be surprised if any team playing for 3rd plays starters. Don't want anyone to get hurt. Now that I think about it, since two or three of these teams may see each other at state, they may not want all their weapons on display. It will be interesting to see how the coaches play the players. Gotta figure that GTown and MUHS will be #2 and #3 at state and likely to play each other. If either BEeast or TE get to state there is a 50/50 chance they will play either GT or MUHS.

Regarding Section 8, I think I have this right. Not only will TEast have to beat Pius and Probably BEast to get to state, but they will have to win at Pius, and the Pius coach, having coached David Markes in club, has more insight than anyone else in the state on how to keep his kill count under 5 per set, which is hard to do. Can't imagine what that seeding discussion was like, each of those teams had a legitimate argument to be #1 seed.

I'm just going off what I see on Wissports for results. #1 BE Went 1-1 against TE including winning the best of 5 matchup. Went 1-2 against Pius...lost best of 5. #2 Pius 2-1 against BE. Didn't play TE. #3 One spot below BE in conference. Definitely could make the case for Pius but they seemed to have lost more matches where BE has some quality wins. However, head-to-head BE lost twice to the #2 seed...interesting. All 3 are ranked very close in top 10 poll as well. Clearly the coaches have given the edge recently to TE since they are ranked #8. In summary, could have gone either way but I'm not surprised by seeds.

Second match tosa won in 2 but Pius did not have kaltenbrun who brings great energy to the team Should be interesting to see them play full strength.
