Lest we forget the super reflective blue court. the literal worst. That just hideous. My eyes 👀 hurt just looking at that. 😳😖

I'm waiting for the day when the entire floor is one gigantic LED flat panel screen so you can "paint" any sport-specific lines that you want and, during time-outs and other breaks, allow the school to show a series of bright advertisements. Don't forget an LED heat sensor for where the ball lands on the floor. 👍 does the volleyball itself generate much of a heat signature? would make for an unusual affect when a player dives across the floor and leaves a trail like a snail.

I really like Army’s floor. Black and gold. It’s sharp. Also Indiana’s new area is really clean. I of course can’t find a picture of either floor, can some one post one? Nice, but where are they going to put the old men sitting in folding chairs behind the end-line?

Indiana and Ohio State looks sharp! I love the classic looking logo Indiana is sporting at the ends of the court. The natural light they both get is really nice. I wish Mizzou would get a more cozy gym, instead of using the old basketball arena that's just a bit too spacious for the crowds they average. While the newer nicer arenas have their benefits (recruiting, no game stoppage for bats flying around, etc), I personally kinda miss the old cavernous arena. Now the sold out small venue looks better on TV, no argument there. But in the cavernous arena you can all spread out a little. give yourselves some space. You aren't all just packed in there like a bunch of sardines. And that's kind of nice.

Some of the other 'clean' floors that have been posted are an improvement over the slop stuff. But, I still think Kentucky is one of the best because of the lack of any slop on the playing surface or near the playing surface. The playing area is one color, the surrounding area is one contrasting color. There are no logos near the lines as there are on some of the other posted courts. I know one thing, if I was a line judge, I'd much prefer to work a court like Kentucky's. (As a TV viewer, it's also what I'd prefer to watch.) The Oregon court actually has sideline tape on top of the name of the court. Talk about distracting.

I'm always a little amazed that D1 VB teams (and to a certain extent basketball teams) don't put more thought into how their floor/court is going to look on TV or on web streams. It's hard enough sometimes to follow a VB match with limited camera angles and sometimes directors who don't seem to know how to follow the rapid pace of action. But sometimes, even the best broadcast is hampered because the floor is loaded with what I call 'slop'. Too many lines, too many logos, and advertising reader boards with constantly changing light intensity that reflects, especially on hardwood floors. The opposite of the 'slop' floors is a clean floor. One of the best, IMO, is UK: Clear lines; nothing confusing and NO logos at all on the actual in-bounds playing surface. You don't have to plaster logos and ads on the actual playing area. Can we just watch the game and not have the sensory overload of logos and ads and artwork and sponsors and slop? The SLOP comes into play when there is no climate control, it's a warm, muggy afternoon outside (rained) and all the doors are open to let this nice humid, warm air in, the big a$$ fans are overhead, blowing all the hot air from atop the dank old auditorium to the court and fans below. Curry had to change her jersey. It was bad. So glad it looks nice on tv. Women's basketball and volleyball have to play in this awful place. Men's BB of course gets new Rupp.

Well, climate control in these facilities is a whole 'nother topic for some other day.
But, for watching on TV or your mobile device, which one is easier on the eyes:
OR

I agree that Kentucky's looks better than Oregon's (low bar to clear), and I agree that they have the right idea with no logos on the actual playing surface. That said, the more I look at it, the more I dislike the color of the playing surface. Gray just doesn't contrast with the blue exterior enough in my opinion.

My son walked through the kitchen when I was watching an Oregon match and said, what's up with that court? Definitely not conducive to focusing on the match. (My remark was with regard to a different type of slop.)

I hope this isn't a dumb question but I feel like I saw somewhere that Teraflex floors provide a better, softer playing service for players and can help reduce jumping injuries. Is this just Hocus Pocus or are they purely cosmetic?
I brought it up to Texas fans because tbh, I hate our floor. I don't know why they put the black border around as black isn't a color of the team. Additionally, there's that weird extra space between the end line and the border that only causes additional pain when it comes to line calls. If I was at UT, I would just invest in a Terflex floor and get rid of the current floor.

So the impact of landing, diving, etc is way lower... The force it takes to jump on that flooring is also different...

I like the new Covelli Center. Better than most. I am not a fan of the gray. Certainly not a fan of the gray logo on the gray floor. But, not a train wreck like Oregon
