I'm waiting for the day when the entire floor is one gigantic LED flat panel screen so you can "paint" any sport-specific lines that you want and, during time-outs and other breaks, allow the school to show a series of bright advertisements. Oh, it's already been made. Not ready for prime-time yet, but it's been done: Here's the STORY from the WASHINGTON POST in 2014

There are some wooden ones. They don't have to be taraflex.
PSU and Wisconsin come to mind. I can't remember if IL also wood.

All personal preference, of course... Indiana's new facility is very nice in pictures and in person, easy on the eyes, and has the great vintage logo at each end of the court. Overall, Ohio State looks pretty nice, but the busy gray court chevron texture reminds of those 1990s books where you stare at the picture, waiting for an image to appear. Distracting, but maybe better in person. Kentucky's court looks cold, stark, icy. Thanks for an interesting question. Would be informative to hear how players react. Maybe they're so busy taking care of business that the court design is moot.

The players don't have to watch it, though. I have always thought Oregon's floor was the most heinous thing this side of Boise State's blue football field. What a nightmare.  When I first saw Oregon's court it looked to me like the surface was terribly worn down, especially that lighter area in the middle where most of the play takes place. Then I realized that the dark area around it was trees and the court was supposed to look like that. Wow , I did not realize those were trees. Just thought it was some splatter paint design or something. What do trees have to do with ducks?

I like the new Covelli Center. Better than most. I am not a fan of the gray. Certainly not a fan of the gray logo on the gray floor. But, not a train wreck like Oregon I kind of like the grey, maybe a little more if it was a shade lighter. But changes it up from the traditional tan color.

I don't remember all the details, but Oregon has a sh*tload of trees and at one point back in the day a really good Oregon basketball team was called the Tall Trees or Tall Timber or something like that. So someone had the idea of carrying on that ancient name by painting trees all around the court as if you were in the middle of the forest looking up at all dem big ol' Oregon trees. Thanks God they didn't go with the name my daddy called me: "Big Turd" (Of course, if they had, I'm not sure the floor would look much different."

So curmudgeonly! It's a big deal for schools to have their own unique design on the floor, and I think it does appeal to the students. They have to use tape to mark off the volleyball court, though, but you don't hear the players complaining about it. The players don't have to watch it, though. I have always thought Oregon's floor was the most heinous thing this side of Boise State's blue football field. What a nightmare.  I specifically came on this thread to say NOT OREGON. I don’t know who was the creative director when it came to that design! It’s like they said, let’s make a giant f*king mess and then try and pass it off as edgy to our hipster college students!

Not to be a too predictable homer, but SC’s floor is vball only, and looks fine to me. It isn’t taraflex tho.

I just can’t for the life of me understand they went for brown and barfy beige for the tree colors instead of green. I’ll admit it all just look like splotches to me until someone pointed out that they were supposed to be trees

What do you think if the colors were inverted ? I think I could get behind multiple shades of green trees, white lines, and yellow/off yellow lettering. I just feel like there had to be someone with that concept but whoever made the decision was like “hmmm nooo I actually really do like the color puke”
