I definitely think Moscow deliberately lost that match today. Starting the whole bench in a must win match?! If Moscow's head coach is indeed taking over the NT....then it makes since to not wear out his Olympic potentials.

Goncharova wasn't even with the team. She is a huge points scorer for them. The only other player who should have started was Irina Fetisova. That was their A-Team. An unfortunate loss. That Pool is wide open now with two matches remaining.

I haven't heard any kind of good source on this.

I'll bet we don't even see her for the VNL. She has been riddled with injuries this quad. Retirement looms.

Was Busato doing a really bad job with Russia? They did qualified for Tokyo and earned 3rd place at the World Cup. The Russians did seem to be recovering somewhat after really falling flat at Rio. Unless Busato decided to quit for some other reasons or the Russian Federation thinks there can be a better replacement...

Did someone say Dinamo Moscow’s head coach is the new Russian NT head coach? Did I read that somewhere? To my knowledge Sergio Busato was the head coach. Or is he the assistant? I thought Pankov stepped down. I have a theory about why Dinamo Moscow is losing games but I need to make sure it has merit. I don't see anything in the Russian federation website that says Busato was removed. I would think there would be a news release if he had been replaced.

I guess I was just fishing for some other external reason why Carlini wouldn't be seeing court time. She really just must be struggling. Though like I posted earlier....that team lives and dies by Goncharova. She wasn't even on the roster for yesterdays match. She must either be recovering or just not being used as much.

After watching that documentary about the aka KGB running a urine sample switching operation at the Olympic testing lab in Sochi, including assassinating the official who ran it (the guy who failed to escape in time), I would put NOTHING past what Russia would do to improve its medal chances... in any sport. The new Machiavellian wild west.
The sad thing is that Carlini's handlers did business with the devil.

I don't want to talk about Carlini anymore, not until she gets out of Russia.

Who needs this baggage...must be good money?

Who needs this baggage...must be good money? I'll bet she thought that after winning Champions League better offers would come except that by that time many other top teams either retained their starting setters or had already signed transfers. I would be willing to bet that Dinamo Moscow was desperate after Ognjenovic was bought out by Vakifbank so they probably threw money at her and she took it. And why not? The team does have a history of winning the Russian SuperLeague and generally performs decently in Champions League. What is happening is that their players have been with the club so long and they are starting to age out and become injury prone. It's hard for me to watch someone like Dijkema struggle at Firenze with all that young talent around her. It has me wishing that Carlini should have maybe taken a pay cut to play at a mid-tier team like Firenze in the Italian league. Many on here feel the same but like I mentioned earlier....Carlini probably felt betrayed by Barbolini for not retaining her after she helped him win the Champions League. I honestly despise Novara for that exact reason. I love Courtney and Hancock....but I hope they don't win a single trophy this year so that Barbolini thinks twice before being so ungrateful and tossing Carlini aside. There. I said it. Glad I got that out. Still pretty irritated about it.
