http://instagr.am/p/B79BRGtFKig Another recruit is marianna Singletary. She is 2022 and is an outside hitter/middle blocker but I believe she will be better at the middle position. She was named as a prepvolleyball all American and only a sophomore!! As you can see from the video she has a HEAVY arm🤘🏽 Saw her a couple times during NIT. She’s gonna be really good. She needs work getting to the pins to block in time but that’s expected with this age group. The most important thing she needs to work on is her court presence when she makes a mistake. Does anyone else think it is insane to drive 5 hours both ways to practice that many times a week? Is she homeschooled? Volleyball is important, but think of the things she is giving up (school friendships for starters). |

Someone who put in the "5 hours" mention should provide additional information. Former Longhorn Molly McCage reminds me of this long travel for practice. This is her old bio in the UT archives:

She earned 2011 Prep Volleyball and Under Armour High School All-American honors at Klein Collins High under coach Beverly Murphy ... named in 2011 by Prep Volleyball as one of the nation’s Top 25 Junior Recruits and named to the Top 25 Underclassmen to Watch by Volleyball Magazine ... named to the 2011-12 All-Texas High School first team ... in 2010, she was named to the Prep Volleyball Soph 79 List ... selected to the 2010 GVCHA Top 25 Houston Area and Lone Star Volleyball All-Texas teams ... earned academic all-state honors in her 2011 senior season ... earned 2009 all-district first team honors in her sophomore season at Klein Collins High and named most valuable player while earning academic all-district honors ... earned academic all-district honors in 2008 ... also competed on the track team at Klein Collins, competing in the high jump ... played club volleyball for the Austin Juniors under coach Glen Lietzke ... earned all-tournament team honors at the 2012 Nationals as her team placed fifth in the 18s division.
If you don't know your Houston-area geography, Klein is far, far North Houston and conservatively, she had a 2.5 hour drive each way to get to Austin for practices!
Always wanted to ask her about that, if/when I got a chance to run into her on campus.

It looks like Marianna Lee is exactly the type of player that JE likes to recruit. Looks like she really enjoyed going to UT volleyball camp last summer.

Match was played two weeks ago. Team in the white is A5 mizuno 16-gabe which is the team Marianna Lee plays on. You can easily spot which player she is.

GET Nya and Sydney!!!! Woohoo!!!!! Who is nya and sydney?? Nya Bunton and Sydney Helmers are both in 15s and are both top 10 recruits for the class of 2023. Nya is a 6’4” middle, and Sydney is a 6’2” OH! They’re both super good! |
