Glad to read that Cari Spears has been in attendance for 3 home matches on three different weekends the month of September. That says a lot to me, especially as these visits are during her own high school volleyball season. These visits require time, including driving time from Dallas to Austin, and back. Based on her father's career, she could be taking unofficial visits to some of her other contenders (LSU or USC); but, it's Austin where she keeps appearing. I'm gonna take that as the most positive of signs for the Longhorns. What was the 3rd one? Because I only know of the Stanford and Washington state games that she attended.

Harvey looks very happy in a pic in Reilly. Looks just as told as Nya Scroll to second photo; proof she was in Austin and not at Stanford https://www.instagram.com/p/Cx3imNMuztQ Harvey to UT would make a lot of sense. Top program, early playing time and going in to an increasingly strong conference. Her and VanderWal would make a tough combo.

Ah, that makes sense. I wasn’t trying to troll or start a flame war, despite the responses of some others - sometimes there’s an actual reason like academics or family location or whatever. No. Wisconsin academics are certainly on par if not better than Texas as a public school. Spears went to high school in Texas but she moved recently from Washington D.C. so the brainwashing we do in this state didn’t occur in the formative stages. Both of her parents are LSU alumni - prominent alumni, actially, since her Dad was a stud college and NFL defensive tackle and her Mom was a gifted basketball player. Nope. Pure silliness. If I wanted to be a bit edgier I’d reference Sheffield visiting Spears in a match last year during the quiet period while Wisconsin was in the area playing at TCU. I do think the NCAA should bring the hammer down on that kind of behavior, because it does give coaches an unfair recruiting advantage when they’re willing to pay attention to a player in a way that no other coach is because it’s against the rules But that’s not actually about Sheffield. That’s about any coach. If the NCAA isn’t going to enforce the rule then I don’t see a problem with coaches doing it. By not enforcing it they’re tacitly saying it’s okay. I think you’re certainly understating the academics at Texas. Wisconsin is a solid public school but really doesn’t stack up against UT Austin.

I know your posting habits well enough to know you won’t change your mind or be open to other opinions/facts so I won’t give you a reply. Just know that the statement “on par or better” is wildly untrue.

Frankly, most of the Big 10 schools outside of Nebraska are really good public schools (Nebraska has a different mission), but even in that group Wisconsin is one of the best. Michigan is tops (not counting Northwestern because private) but Wisconsin is right there with anyone else.

She spent the weekend in Madison on her official visit to Wisconsin. Badger fans in attendance said Lauren Carlini was in the stands with Cari and her mom for a set during the Michigan match today. That's kind of cool, but the connections seem to be older and deeper at the other schools.

You might say “on par” with UT, but few would say better.
