At this point you have to think these hitters aren't in tempo with swindle..... right? Wennas was a great hitter prior. These kids aren't clicking with their setter. No tempo, no consistency. I think that changes things overnight for UT. I would think a setter would be top priority in the portal I don’t think Wenaas was a great hitter prior. She might not be clicking with Swindle and that absolutely could be what is happening, but I’d be shocked if her 3 years at Minnesota averaged to higher than .250 .223 in 2022 per The Gophers 2022 Overall Stats |

I don't mean to defend wennas, but I just don't see consistent tempo balls to the pins. Skinner can pound moonballs so its deceiving for her to appear out of sync. , but tempo is the issue to me. Throw in a new setter, and watch out.... all the other pieces are there for a natty caliber team. I just don't see an offensive flow. |

So the staff has had Spring and Summer to work this out.

I wish Molly ran more slides in transition too, and even out of serve receive. those can be set slightly higher, more room for error

If she’s not driving quickly at a tight set, you can bet she’s going to find the meat of the block, not matter how high. |

She will get better, shes only a freshman, but right now its rough. Her setting is not the only reason Jenna struggles but it does play a part imo |

Sure Ella has her issues but even when Wenaas gets a perfect set she finds the block or the libero 9 times outta 10 |

I think this assessment is spot on. 👌 Everything is there, but it's tempo and a feel and a flow that's missing. These hitters are all Olympians, the defense is there too, it's just decisions and timing and tempo. Ask nebraska how they liked nicklin Hames tempo last season? How she set the middle? Ask hord how it went? A 3 time all american with no senior honors? It knocked them out of the tourney early with all those great hitters. It matters. Hitters need tempo and timing, the game moves fast. Think of all those 2 handed free balls this season? Thats just not gonna fly at this level. Texas is missing that high level quarterback. You can't have asjia having a 5th year season like this? All the offense has been underwhelming compared to Texas tradition. |
