Ames seems a little out of shape and heavy footed. Not as quick as she’s going to need to be and like Devin at 6’5”, she’s got to elevate much better than she does currently. Plenty of room to get better though and she can work hard and overcome some of these issues. Not worried as I know there is a good work ethic inside the team. It's a snapshot. She's enrolling in a couple of weeks. I don't know what my expectations were previously, but they've been lowered. For true freshmen, especially true freshmen middle blockers, that's a good thing. There's a reason Texas redshirts almost every middle blocker that enters the program. She's also going to have 8 months of strength and conditioning at Texas before she plays her first game. Lots of room to reshape her body athletically. Just look at a picture of Ella Swindle a year ago at the same event. There's a big difference. |
