Ames seems a little out of shape and heavy footed. Not as quick as she’s going to need to be and like Devin at 6’5”, she’s got to elevate much better than she does currently. Plenty of room to get better though and she can work hard and overcome some of these issues. Not worried as I know there is a good work ethic inside the team. It's a snapshot. She's enrolling in a couple of weeks. I don't know what my expectations were previously, but they've been lowered. For true freshmen, especially true freshmen middle blockers, that's a good thing. There's a reason Texas redshirts almost every middle blocker that enters the program. I wouldn't lower or raise any expectations based off of this match, but I get it if thats how you feel. I still think Ames is the best MB in this class, regardless of a not so great match numbers wise for her Lexi sun was the mvp of this match and never became the problem for opponents people thought she would be. Anna debeer hit negative in her under armor game and then had an amazing freshman season. there are countless examples of why this match is a pretty useless way of evaluating these players |

the only reason I mentioned her is cause JE has said multiple times how impressive of a blocker she is I know Baylor made it work with Van der Mark, but a lefty middle is wacky |

she looked really good in u 19 games this past summer...this is an all-star game...patience, she's going to mbu this semester oh I know. I’m not mad at her. I’m not even disappointed. I’m just saying 3 is a tad thin imo especially if JE wants to redshirt 1 Jerritt converted an outside turned right side turned utility in YBG into a final four middle. We’ll be fine with Ames and when whoever after her in the depth chart decides to step up. We’ve been spoiled by having butler, Asjia, and Bella/Caffey at the helm. There have been some ‘make it work’ moments and we’ve been fine. |

All I’m saying is I’d feel more comfortable with a 4th option at middle. Whether it be a current roster transition or a portal grab. |

we will find out more about the middle situation by the end of spring...to me some players will need to cross train because you need 4 middles to scrimmage (unless you use a permanent middle on one team)...or je will go to the portal to get a veteran middle to help out
