Wonder what the future setting recruits are thinking? Don't they have 2-3 lined up in the next two years? Adonia Faumuina (2022) was recruited as a setter, but she’s also been listed as a OH. I wonder if the is will change things for her. Nope

I can’t say I’m all that surprised picking usc. She’s a cali girl and I think that’s the program that needs it the most. Texas had a lot of draw for her tho, playing with her cousin and having friends from YNT. But Cabello and Gabriel on the current roster, may have been reason for pause. But good get for usc... Botkin is coming back for another year and thank god, she deserves to finally get a good setter Intelligent comment. At the end of the day, we do not know the exact reason Tuaniga opted for USC over anywhere else. One thing we do know is that Hawai'i is not disappointed with the Tuaniga transfer out of the Big West.

Long Beach losing top recruits is not good news for a conference that has already lost many big time players in the past year. I am hoping Long Beach and Mckienzie-Fuebringer can get it together.

More BW players are already in the portal.

The Big West shot itself in the foot not having any sort of season. Even if it had been a small conference season, might have helped. tough for top talent to watch other conferences play while they sit

She won't be playing any sooner at SC than she would have at Beach.

Well it didn’t help that the AD told the girls the best chance to have a season was to move off campus, giving the girls two weeks to find a place and figure out roommates. Needless to say, not all the arrangements worked out. It’s too bad the issues couldn’t be resolved, the Beach could of had a really good year. They could still have a great year, if they are able to pick up a quality setter.

Can a D-1 player transfer a second time (but not a graduate year)? I wonder if there is any exception for this odd Covid year since if I understand correctly, this year doesn’t count as an eligibility year even if their team played? Normally does someone have to automatically sit out a year if they transfer a second time? My friends daughter seems to be in a difficult situation, and I didn’t really know the answer. Thought I’d ask you volleytalkers.

Maybe it’s different for other people, but on every competitive team I’ve ever been a part of, no one has ever been promised a job or a role. One sure way to lose the rest of your team is not putting in the lineup that is most likely to win. It’s probable that she gives USC the best chance to win (by all accounts, she’s very talented), but if she shows up to campus and doesn’t perform as well as others at her position, that “promise” won’t be kept.

Unless you are somehow connected to the purported leaders of that conference, that is a disappointing result. Oh and claiming that you are putting athletes first while denying them ability to compete is the type of excuse that will cost you athletes and fans.

Its my experience that you don't win recruiting battles for players like her without a commitment to what her role will be. "Promise" may be a strong word, but I am sure that the conversation took place if some form or another. It will be interesting to see who is around at that position come fall to hold her accountable to play well? I can see Lazaro transferring. Grabbing Mia is not exactly a vote of confidence for her. It will also be interesting to see if any of the new setting recruits have a change of heart in going to SC.

Maybe Glock coming in the fall but Adonia she’s a usc girl.
