I know nothing about the program, how he coached, how he ran the program. But to keep trying, keep beating his head against the Big Ten wall year after year, to continue to send his troops into a completely no-win situation, that deserves special recognition.

Rutgers is a joke of an athletic department. Werneke is hardly Hugh Mccutcheon but what is their expectation? Any legitimate coach that has a future as a top college vb coach would be insane to take that job. The Big Ten would love a do over in bringing in Rutgers. |

I don't see them play a lot but I see them play sometimes.
Whenever I see them play the kids are playing hard and have good body language. That, to me, is a sign of success for Rutgers.

Final RPI of #126. Seriously that's an amazing turnaround.
Should be a COY candidate. If they can do a little better, the B1G needs to let them play in the NIVC.

Other sports (eg Women's Soccer) were successful in B1G, he's got to take at least some of the blame.

The B1G wanted to capture the New York City market with the addition of Rutgers. It really hasn't happened. Rutgers has been a financial liability as well as an athletic liability. |
