Whittington has been playing on the outside this past season. Will be interesting to see where she ends up playing - I had projected her to replace Cooney on the right side.

To get the most of Whittington i see her as a pin player. I would like to see her as an OH. I really think Cooney needs to be on the RS inorder for this team to be susseful. Whittington is poweful and physical. I really hope Holzman can come back form the injury because I think she could rally be our go to.

Cooney has one more year of eligibility. Whittington will replace her on the right side.

One hot rumor (among others) is that Jen Flynn Oldenburg will be the new volleyball coach at her alma mater Ohio State. I think it would be an excellent choice. Jen resigned her position of assistant coach in 2012 after spending 9 years at Illinois. To honor Jen and in recognition of "throwback Thursday", here is a training video Jen did while coaching the Illini "wee ones" back in the day:

I remember watching Jen Flynn when she was a player at Ohio State. If my memory serves me (which is getting more questionable all the time), Jen could do it all on the volleyball court. Jen was the setter for OSU for most of her collegiate career for Coach Jim Stone. I believe once setter Katie Virtue began her career at OSU (this was maybe Jen's senior season) she switched to an outside hitter. Whatever, position Jen Flynn played at OSU, she was a winner!

Ohio State has finally announced that former Illinois assistant coach, Jen Flynn Oldenburg, is the new head coach at Ohio State. Jen was an assistant for 9 years at the U of I. Congratulations to Jen!

It’s interesting how many Illinois assistant coaches have gone on to become head coaches. Here are a few that come to mind:
Hardin Hambly Kniffen Connor Miller Kordes Flynn Oldenburg
Congrats to Jen. I think this is a great hire.

Looks like Whittington is graduating early. So I’m guessing she’s be at Illinois in the fall? Spring. She should be on campus now.
