I wonder if there was no scholarship for her this coming year and didn’t want to rack up $40,000 plus debt? Good luck to her on her future goals.

Say it ain't so, Mo! : ( Going to miss watching her flying around the court and pumping up her teammates! Thanks to her for her three years as an Illini- her effort, leadership, and enthusiasm will be missed. Best of luck to her on her future endeavors!

Watching volleyball and being a fan is great fun. Actually playing D1 volleyball is a ton of work, Assuming she has life plans beyond volleyball and with degree in hand, it Is easy to understand her decision to move on. If you look at D3 volleyball rosters, there are lots freshmen and very few seniors. While it would be terrific to watch her for another year good luck to her in whatever she chooses. I’m sure she is well prepared.

I think Illinois gets a transfer liberal and we should be okay. Not sure why OBrien left a season early seeing that she looked very happy playing vball. But life happens

But life happens You're wrong, she was considerably better than most of the B10 Bros both this year and last and faaar better than Caroline McGraw over at UMN. For reference, McGraw passed 1.98 this year. O'Brien passed 2.28 this year and 2.33 last year. That's also better that either Kenzie Knuckles this year or Tiffany Clark. So no, quite wrong I'm afraid.

Does anyone know how much experience Kennedy Collins had in the middle prior to arriving at Illinois last August? She did a terrific job in a position that is quite a bit different from the pin positions and can be difficult to learn. Considering that her first starts were on the right side is there a chance she gets moved to one of the pin positions? She was a middle in club throughout HS until Senior year, played Middle and OH for her high school team.

We need an "insider" to let us know where the staff is with recruiting. Who might be interested in Illinois and who we are recruiting. Not enough going on this time of year, baseless speculation is always good to fill up the winter break.

Is Obrien done with volleyball or is she transferring? [br Graduating early and moving on to her next endeavor. www.news-gazette.com/sports/illini-sports/volleyball/o-brien-shifts-focus-to-academics/article_5421736e-10ad-524d-990a-b86a86a1b4db.htmlArticle says that she is going to pursue her career in the medical field. Don't know if that means graduate school or straight to the work force. Across the board these girls are terrific students. Almost to the person they are pursuing real degrees, as opposed to 'jock' degrees. They continue to maintain a high team gpa even with the demands of tough academics and tough competition. I'm not sure how this team with fare on the court next year but I am confident that they'll continue to shine in the classroom and that you aren't going to see them showing up on the police blotter.

I think Eske could win that job. I'm excited for Eske and Chi to both get chances to compete for regular PT in 2020- some new opportunities in the back row. A lot of question marks for the Illini but it will be cool seeing how it all comes together. Can't wait till those spring games start up.

Per her Instagram, Morgan OBrien has announced she is graduating early and is no longer playing. What! ?!!!!!!!! Damn she was one of my favorites. She was really nice to my kids when we met the team. I was thinking of turning this account into ObrienFan. I am guessing she wasn't on scholarship and found a way to graduate early. Oh well, still a fun player to watch. I guess eske and chi are up now.
