Not a fact. She said she was on a 2/4 deal a year or so ago, and if it’s offered your freshman year, it needs to be a 4/4 deal. Unless something changed with USC Fact. Her scholarship is starting freshman year. I don't care what you think she said. You don't have a better source than I do. I can link the video. Again, I said things may have changed, but Akana herself said she was on a 2/4 schollie her junior year. It’s posted on star advitswe website.

She’s on scholarship this fall. Fact. Hypothetical: She could have signed an NLI and be on schollie this fall and still be on a 2/4 WITH chance for upgrade to 3/4 or 4/4. So both of these sasa and WahineFan44 statements could be correct. Just because a kid doesn't get all 4 years guaranteed doesn’t mean she won’t earn the rest prior to college start.

Just because a kid doesn't get all 4 years guaranteed doesn’t mean she won’t earn the rest prior to college start. That's true if it's not a power 5 school (or other school like Notre Dame that has agreed to be bound by those rules). Power 5 scholarships are guaranteed for 4 years for those athletes who get a scholarship in their freshman year. They can't be cancelled for athletic reasons. So, for power 5 schools, if you get an athletic schollie your freshman year, it's a 4-year schollie. Those schools don't have the same flexibility as other schools (which is generally a good thing for athletes but it means that the schollie can't be in your freshman year for athletes who are on 3/4, 2/4, or 1/4 schollies).
So either Keonilei's scholarship status changed from the time of the interview or she doesn't have a USC schollie her first year. Or she lied/was wrong in the interview (and she actually had a 4-year schollie), USC isn't following the rules (which would be very surprising at this point bc I'm sure they're being monitored due to the Varsity Blues scandal), or she has some other kind of schollie for her freshman year. E.g., she could have a legit academic schollie her freshman year, then the non-guaranteed athletic schollie for two years.

Wouldn't mind seeing a libero transfer in, and/or K.Akana and F.Danielson walk on, and all the DS/L compete; delaying a scholarship until it's clear one is deserved. Believe that's what they did with Akiu. My recollection is she didn't get awarded until after the first three or four matches.

Even before SASA info, I would say she deserves a 4/4

There was a local libero at Temple that is no longer on the roster, but I guess she didn't enter the transfer portal for whatever reason. There's still a few Libero's in the transfer portal. But TBH, Akana would be an amazing get for UH at the position. She could be a 3-4 year starter for UH similar to Kaaihue and Kahakai. But really, it all just depends if this rumor on the USC thread is true or not. As of now, seems like there's no legs to it.

I swear Temple released something last month about Danielson signing

That’s still only true if her original NLI scholarship info stated she was getting a 4 year deal. It’s still possible to be funded two of four years and receive money in the first. What the power 5 agreed to was a protection of athletes from poor performance, which still doesn’t protect them from a coach running them off between years to free up the money. In prior years a 4 year deal was verbally 4 individual contracts with the intention of renewing them each year. These conferences decided to make a 4 year deal a true 4 year deal and not 4 1-year deals. Any sport can still divide up years how’d they like as long as they don’t breach the max threshold in any given year for their sport.

Oh weird. I swear Temple released something last month about Danielson signing Nope, you are correct. She did sign. I stand corrected. No worries. Temple had an incoming senior libero from Punahou (Avery Salvador) that is no longer on the roster). Always wondered where she may end up.
