Sounds like a walk on to me. She was already going to attend UH, and then received word that she'll be playing for UH.
If she was a scholarship we would have heard something official.
EDIT:
Just watched a couple clips. Not sure how old they were, but definitely a walk on. With Krug leaving the indoor team, probably gave the staff incentive to pick up another walk on hitter to provide depth and some additional bodies to the team.

Maybe a chance to reopen the Newport Harbor pipeline for the future. She doesn’t look D1 ready but I can see some potential down the road. She seems pretty athletic, hit from both the middle and right and can hit the step out. Some of highlights looks good. The way Skyler developed thru the years, there is no reason she cannot do the same. The logjam at middle might be tough to rack but the coaches could find a place for her. tstreetvolleyball.com/player/siena-springborn/

Good to have 4 Middles, for scrimmages during practice. Like 2 Opposites, 4 Outside Hitters, 2 Setters, 2 Liberoes, etc.

Cmon, if Sarah Liva got to walk on the last minute, anybody can walk on too regardless of your skill level.

Loved the passion Live played with, but she was definitely not the kind of middle Hawaii needed to exceed at the highest level - altho she was the second best Hawaii had. I do agree tho, Williams' senior year highlights were not that impressive, but she has flourished under the coaching staff's and has been such a hard worker. She's definitely become a legit Division I middle, and perhaps Springborn could as well. But as of right now, it'll require a lot of hard work.

Hawaii fans, Akana ended up at Nebraska. What can you tell me about her?

Hawaii fans, Akana ended up at Nebraska. What can you tell me about her? To avoid any inadvertent confusion or heart attacks, this is referring to Braelyn’s younger sister, Keonilei.

.... and Springborn officially announced as a signee for UH. Wow. So bummed Akana didn't up at UH...
Was there no other player UH could sign than Springborn? With all due respect, maybe I'm just missing something here...

With all due respect, maybe I'm just missing something here... Jesus, give the girl a break. "Sounds like a walk on to me" "Just watched her, definitely a walk on" "Maybe she could become a legitimate D1 Middle but at this point it would take a lot of work" "Was there no other player UH could sign than Springborn?"

Yes I know, I'm sorry for coming off strong. I'm just stating an opinion OK? I'm happy Springborn is a Wahine! My bad for having an opinion!

Somehow I get the feeling that Keonilei was never going to be a Wahine. She was waiting for some big time school to offer her and when Nebraska lost out on that UCSB libero transfer, Akana was their plan B.
Kind of disappointed that she didn’t choose to stay home but if her heart is not into being a Wahine, then maybe it’s best she find someplace where she wants to be.
Good luck to her. UH is just going to have to find another libero OR Robyn May choose to go back to that no libero lineup and have Brooke and Riley play the role of a libero.

Siena is a typical Robyn Ah Mow type of player....athletic, versatile and hard working. If you look at almost all of Robyn’s recruits, they can play multiple positions and can move around.
I can even see her trying to move to OH. She is going to have to work on her passing but if she put in the work, there is no reason she cannot turn into a decent OH2 type.
