My view on the Nebraska beach program has evolved over the years. I used to think Cook was serious about developing a Beach program. But primarily it gave him another opportunity to travel and recruit while developing some minor beach skills in his indoor players. Nebraska beach has never amounted into anything more than a recruiting feature for indoor. It gives them a few weeks in the spring for their indoor players to cross-train and go on an extended spring break beach volleyball road trip together once a year. Any team in the top 25 that plays them takes a hit to their resume regardless of the outcome. Now, I'd fully support Hall never scheduling them again.

But that probably won't happen anytime soon now that Keonilei is gonna be playing there. Hawaii volleyball coaches love scheduling schools with Hawaii ties, even if Hawaii's RPI takes a nosedive after scheduling weaker schools. 😑

Bring on 2020!!
Just to stir some volleyball dialogue. I think with the setting personnel that UH has in the fall, we'll see a 5-1 offense again.

Hope you all are doing well during this quarantine. We have hopefully only 26 more days to go =P Hahahah! With the way people are out & about hiking (probably excercise) & whatnot (my IG is full of people going out cruising it all over). Stay home people. My mom & me to a certain extent fall into the susceptible category. Even more reason to be safe!! We will get pass this, so in the mean time enjoy 2019 reruns. I have all the Wahine home games recorded

Plus look who our Governor is! He is handling this just as well as Trump is! Ige needs to grow a pair. Maybe Robyn Ah Mow can show him how to lead! Seriously? Trump has download played this virus for months but Ige has done more than any governor and I don’t even care for Ige by the way. A lot of people (in Hawaii especially) need to educate themselves on what a governor can and can’t do in times like this. Keep politics off this thread 🙄 They both took too long to take action. Ige only did his stay at home work from home plan after three mayors did. I agree with you that Trump downplayed and is still downplaying it, but I can’t agree that Ige did much better. A governor needs to lead. And Ige didn’t do that.

Going to Nebraska to play sand? That's funny. Nebraska's sand "season" is rubbish. And the training is mostly, if not all, indoors. There weren't any better options for her to play both? Nebraska's sand season is a joke, but it may allow her to come home every Spring. There is a local connection on the bench as well, Reyes and Ramos are (were?) both at Nebraska. Hawaii should end this partnership with Nebraska as all the benefit goes to Nebraska. There is zero benefit to Hawaii, who has a real beach program. Hawaii should not be doing favors for ex islanders. Whatever is best for the indoor and beach programs should be a priority. Screw the local connections.

I understand Robyn bringing in teams with local connections because they bring in extra fans and extra money and increase attendance. The beach team does not generate any income for the school so Hall should not be scheduling them. Nebraska could have used their trips to Hawaii to lure Keonilei there. Hall should stop scheduling Nebraska. We gain nothing from playing them.

I can't help but think 'If they REALLY cared about the weather, they wouldn't be interested in Nebraska in the first place'. But maybe that's just me.

Oh well, an Akana loss only opens the door for that rumored international OH or maybe a prized transfer OH like Cecilee Max-Brown who knows Tiffany W and enjoys playing the ukelele

Hmm...what if Robyn is concerned that Kiraly will not be able to make it to Hawaii this year due to the CV thing and Siena Springborn is her “replacement “. That would free up a scholarship for Cecilee Max Brown. Kiraly can then take Skyler’s scholarship in 2021. With both BVS and Jolie being seniors, having another PAC 12 transfer for 2021 will help ease the lost of the two seniors for 2021. We really do need another OH. Riley and Hanna will be the only two true OHs coming back for 2021. Mia Johnson will be unproven so somebody like Max Brown will be important to keep the program on the right path.

So, with a press release, does this mean Springborn is on scholarship? They never do such pressers for walk-ons. I feel like they did some kind of post on Kyra Hanawahine. Although, I didn't have the patience to search for it on UH's site I assume Hanawahine was on scholarship. They never do these pressers for walk-ons, even "preferred" or "recruited" walk-ons like Juliana Sanders, or those who were likely to start and later earn scholarships like Tita Akiu.

The only one I couldn't recognize was Mylana Byrd, the one who shows up immediately after Riley Wagoner. What made it more difficult was that the camera was too low and she was looking up so you couldn't really see her face.
