Ball control and more consistent setting have to happen for the Huskers to be in Omaha in 2020. Outside of Knuckles who has lots of promise I'm not certain the current bench of DS's have what we need to improve in the area of ball control. I still think Miller has promise. Her serve is one of the best on the team and hopefully she can improve her instincts on tip coverage and serve recieve. She just doesn’t move her feet quick enough- always jumping forward after the fact. Densberger is going to be a senior and she still just doesn’t have it. @avid Not to be a contrarian but Miller's serve isn't one of the best on the team. Based on the composite stats on VM we can see opponents "Good pass percentage" versus each of the Nebraska players. In case anyone is unfamiliar with the good passing percentage; a 'good pass' is one that is within 3 steps of the setter - allowing an offense to stay in system. So obviously when you're serving, the opponents good pass % is a really good indicator of how well someone is serving. Much better than, say, aces - because while an ace IS included in the good pass percentage (it lowers the %) a really tough serve that results in an overpass or a freeball isn't counted in aces. So with that said, here are the opponents good pass percentages against Nebraska's primary servers. Again, lower here is better for Nebraska: Knuckles: 44.5% Sun: 45.1% Hames: 47.5% Kubik: 48% Stivrins: 50.1% Densberger: 50.4% Miller: 54.6% The reason you might feel that she has a good serve is because she's actually leading the team in points won on her serve with 49.9% but that's really just a reflection of the rotation when she's serving. That rotation is simply the most effective for Nebraska because of where the hitters & Hames are on the floor, so they win a lot of points there. Miller isn't serving that well and it certainly shouldn't be a reason she keeps the job.

Stivrins: 50.1% Densberger: 50.4% This actually explains why they have pretty much been taking turns serving a lot of the time lately.

Season hitting % ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Nicklin Hames~ .211 Capri Davis~ .174 Kenzie Knuckles~ -.200 Madi Kubik~ .218 Megan Miller~ .500 Callie Schwarzenbach~ .263 Lauren Stivrins~ .374 Lexi Sun~ .270 Jazz Sweet~ .279 Anezka Szabo~ .167 Riley Zuhn~.000 (I excluded anyone who didn’t play or had 0 attempts) Want me to post season passing? Or any other composite stats - defense, blocking etc? Do you have the passing breakout? Talked to a coach that said it was the worst since 2011 (all matches). They sent a scatter plot by match and it was rough. It's hard for Nicklin to build consistency if she's passing so many sub-2 balls.

Our passing and even serving was noticeably subpar this year for a typical Nebraska team we have been getting accustomed to. Defense was pretty good but our passing was a glaring issue all season. To be honest I thought our serve pass was pretty decent for this last match which is why I was so suprised our effectiveness at our transition game was so weak.

Davis - I have seen her out with some of her teammates (Nicklin, Anezka, Callie, and Chen). I think it depends on playing time. When the girls hang out together, it shows they have chemistry! That's a + for next season!🤞😂 GO HUSKERS

I must say, Sun served a LOT tougher on that match vs. Wis. It was very noticeable she was serving tougher than usual.

The question was if Davis stays at NE. I think it depends on her desire for playing time. It has nothing to do with her injury. All three pins appear to be settled going into next year.

Glad the Khat’s out of the bag. Subtly hinting at this impending transfer has been exhausting.

Lol, was it as personal as the rumors I heard in Lincoln? (I.e. there are hard feelings now)
But this is *good* news. We lose potential depth at the OH position, but we can upgrade a position we really need to.

Hopefully Nebraska can attract a quality MB transfer, allowing the following things to happen:
1. Push Schwarzenbach, and at a minimum, provide a reliable alternative when a sub is needed.
2. Allow Zuhn to focus strictly on the OH position and hopefully become a reliable alternative to Sun and Kubik, as needed.
