Saw this from Coach Pettit today. Really surprised he has Stanford in the third tier. I don't think it's a mistake that he has the first tier listed in that order. I get that it's Penn State but no exactly.

Baylor and Purdue as high as they are surprises me. Everyone else was pretty spot on with my prediction as well. Florida should be in Tier 2.

Initial thoughts: Is Harrison going to be eligible this year for Baylor? If not, they should not be in that group. They also have major question marks in the middle and in the passing area. PSU is not in that group. Fitzpatrick is a nice addition, but I don't think she makes them significantly better than last season. Florida should be at least tier 2, if not tier 1. Mary has even more talent on the roster than usual this year. If we're gonna put Nebraska in tier 1 after Hames' underwhelming season, then Minnesota should also be in that tier. Michigan should be somewhere on this list.

Plus are we really going to put all of the blame on Hames? I've been a critic I'll admit, but she did not have much to work with. Betting on their freshmen setter to be good Day 1 is a big expectation and Atherton is not the setter they need.

And not only do they lose their power hitter in Hart, but also one of their other main attackers in Taylor Morgan, who had the second if not the highest hitting percentage on the team. Not to mention Kylie Miller, who by the end of the season was playing at a super high level pretty much all around, and was also one of their really strong servers. So Nebraska is easily above both Minnesota and Penn State (who also lost some key players) imo.

Shame her season got somewhat derailed but at least she ended up with a Final 4 experience. Penn State lost their back court which included an obviously very good libero in White. They also graduated the only outside who did well (who wasn't even really an OH). I think it's wise to temper our expectations

Glad to see I'm not the only one not so high on minnesota... I keep seeing Wisc/MN as a 1A/1B in the B1G..... but to me that's Wisc/Neb with MN being a distant 2 What is this 1B talk for Nebraska? Wisconsin was 15-1 in sets vs Minnesota and Nebraska last year. Wisconsin has the likely Freshmen of the year starting at Opposite, and just picked up the Libero of the year from the AAC. Tier 1: Wisconsin Tier 2: Nebraska, Minnesota, PSU

I can't make comments about a player moving from the AAC to the B1G. Nebraska returns everyone, another year more experienced and hopefully better than the year before. Just because they were sweeps, doesn't mean Nebraska was not competitive. In almost every set between the two teams last season there was a key run by Wisconsin/series of errors by Nebraska at the end of the set near the 20ish point mark, that's what experience brings. Wisconsin lost some of that, Nebraska gained some. You don't have to agree, it's just my opinions/observations.

And hopefully development of last years bench & subs, and assist from incoming frosh and transfer, with high expectations for Akana and Caffey. Should be fun if they let us have a season.

Speaking of Caffey, should we be expecting Callie to be benched? That’ll definitely be interesting.

The battle of the pins is a wash for me with these two teams. Lexi clearly the best OH1, Rollins (in 2018) is about even with Kubik, and Minnesota wins the opposite battle by a mile. Minnesota definitely upgrades with Myers in the middle (yes, I know Caffey had a nice hit in that 2 minute YouTube clip all of you have seen), and I don’t think there is much of a difference between Hames and Atherton. Also, freshman having successful seasons is not a rare thing.
