So with it being probable at this point that the season will be cancelled this year, do we redshirt everyone or do only seniors get redshirted since we don’t have anyone coming in next fall? Or does no one get redshirted?
I hope at least O’Brien gets redshirted for next year!

If they decide to cancel the season and not move to spring then I believe the ncaa would leave it up to schools to give players an extra year. I can't speak for any other school but CDC will without a doubt find a way to give athletes another year of eligibility. Especially since Ehlinger is a senior and this was his year to prove his value in the nfl. He won't take that away from him and you can't just give one team waivers and not others so I fully expect everyone to get a redshirt

Our two international signees were part of the 2020 signing class, not 2021; and, they were most likely going to be on scholarship for the 2020 season. They are now scheduled to enroll at Texas for the beginning of the 2021 Spring semester.
So, that is not the same as those future signees for the 2021 class (current seniors in high school) who have not signed an LOI since they are not eligible to do so until November 2020. Several schools were anticipating some of their 2021 class to be early enrollees come January 2021.
I would expect the NCAA not to allow any current high school seniors to participate in a deferred 2020 collegiate volleyball season. But, that's just a guess.

If it is completely cancelled, then NCAA will just follow the softball model where everyone was granted an extra year of eligibility and scholarship limits were temporarily lifted. It's already been done, nothing new.

It's already been done, nothing new. You are probably correct. But, the Spring sports like softball were interrupted (canceled) in progress almost halfway through their season. Once NCAA decided to grant that extra season of eligibility for Springs sports athletes, they had no idea Fall sports would also be canceled. Unfortunately, if this pandemic continues for the foreseeable future, the NCAA will have to make tougher decisions and cease extending eligibility due to canceled sports.

From what I am hearing. The Big 12 does not want to cancel the season and neither does the SEC so I don't think our volleyball season is intact as of now. If other conferences choose to opt out and cancel fall sports it could lead to an ncaa championship cancelation and if that's the case then we might just do big 12 play which I am okay with at this point but cancelation in the Big 12 is the less likely option as of now.
Nebraska's football coach said they plan on playing even if the Big 10 cancelled the season which means they might come to the Big 12 for a season and who knows maybe volleyball does the same if they really want to play.

I say, if teams want to play, keep it in state! Texas and California have lots at their disposal, make it how volleyball's spring seasons usually are, more scrimmage like. Especially if there's an opportunity to have a season in the spring. Why go all out for a conference title and not a natty? But they really cannot cancel, I think the hassle that schools and the NCAA will go through putting on 10+ sports in the spring versus having backlogs of athletes and lost years and what not is worth it. DON'T cancel, postpone!

(But I do expect all athletes to get another year of eligibility)

(But I do expect all athletes to get another year of eligibility) In regards to the softball situation where players were allowed to come back for a bonus year, as long as the schools could afford the temporary bump in scholarships, Wiscy's AD Barry Alvarez told the seniors the school wouldn't (couldn't) support the bonus year and "go live your life after college". He said they didn't have the money to support extra scholarships for baseball, track and softball.
Imagine him doing that to the women's volleyball team if this year is pre-empted.

DON'T cancel, postpone! If they absolutely have to do so then I am rooting for postponing the season. I just don't want anything cancelled to where we have to wait until next fall to watch ncaa sports again. I like your idea of playing in state games only in the fall kind of like preseason training and having an actual season in the spring. I am all for that idea. What exactly is spring though? Are we talking January start or March start? I would assume January because a March start would mean a month before they would have to start preseason again.

So with it being probable at this point that the season will be cancelled this year, do we redshirt everyone or do only seniors get redshirted since we don’t have anyone coming in next fall? Or does no one get redshirted? I hope at least O’Brien gets redshirted for next year! Didn't she finish her bachelors degree in 3 years? Doesn't strike me as the type to lolly gag around on a masters program for longer than she actually needs to just to play volleyball.

So she might want to play in 2021 if the season is canceled or she might just want to focus on her studies and career.
