I honestly think losia will take the libero spot from sydney or Texas might even look for a tranfer to come in and make an impact. Also with parra coming in I think Texas now has the pieces to run a 6-2 and have cabello set in the front row and jhenna set the back row since she is such a blocking liability in the front row. Although we had high hopes for the 2019 team and they were a great team my money goes to the 2020 roster. Everyone is a year older and we have great freshman coming in so 2020 is the year🤘🏽 If you have a setter in the front row then that is not a 6-2. If Cabello were to come in for Gabriel in the front row, that would be a 5-2, like what Florida ran a few years ago. With all that talent Texas has at the pins, a 6-2 may be the best way to utilize it. Yea I got them mixed up thats my bad but whichever way it goes jhenna does not need to be blocking at the net. Its almost an instant kill when the other team hits over her

Still tons of talent on the roster despite the disappointing finish. On the plus side, another highly recruited DS and a highly recruited setter will help provide competition and depth in those areas. Guessing the lineup will be: Eggleston and Fields as OH. Eggleston 6 rotations, not sure about Fields. Butler and O'Neal in the middle Phillips on the right Gabriel sets Peterson libero, Iosia DS Setter spot should be very competitive. I think a lot of fans want a change from Gabriel after the rough Louisville outing but Jhenna set the team to .325 on the year and was quite good most of the season IMO. A 6-2 is another option with Williams on the roster. Lots of options. I think Texas once again will be top 3 or top 4 preseason. Question is will the senior class (which is now just Shook, if she stays) finally make a Final Four? Do you think Mr. Elliott has gotten over his thing for small setters yet? After all, he had the perfect opportunity to run a 6-2 this year. Elliott, under the guise of seeming to use a match up substitution with Molly for Jhenna, still was not effective. It was just the old bring in Mirta for Chloe substitution because something had to be done. In fairness to Jhenna, far to many bad first touches made her sets difficult to make. She did make a few amazing reverse flow sets in the Louisville match. They got some rare one on ones for Texas. Then, the high reception passes caused Jhenna to make many trap sets resulting in the famous Texas tip to a free ball. Now, Noreen Iosia, a senior, might have a talk with her sister and recommend she has a talk with Robyn in Hawaii. Robyn is proving herself quite a coach. Ohana is a powerful force in Hawaii. Might ruin hopes for getting Texas out of their first touch rut. I don't think a small setter is the issue...Gabriel's setting was just way too tight vs. Louisville. I thought overall she was head and shoulders better than Shook and that she had a really good year. 6-2s are great in theory but rarely work all that well. They basically eliminate slide attacks and hitters have to adjust to two different setters. Shook and Gabriel appear to be very different too in their setting style. Wouldn't be surprised if Cabello comes in and wins the position, but I don't think it's set in stone.

Everyone saying "IF" melanie parra comes makes me nervous. I honestly don't see what could possibly stop her from coming. She announced she was 100% committed on her Instagram and Texas volleyball reposted it and she is attending school in round rock I guess to finish her high school year and get eligibility worked out. Im pretty sure she is for sure coming to Texas and should replace white in the lineup. She is a hell of a passer as well so that is a huge bonus that comes with her offense

I'm still mourning the loss. I've unfollowed every Texas/volleyball social media accounts to get less irritated for a little bit.
THERE NEEDS TO BE A BIG CHANGE for next year. This was a huge wake up call. I thought Rice did that but we were all wrong. I don't know where specific changes will happen but it needs to happen. First, it starts with a leader ON and OFF the court. We know what our girls can do and it didn't translate in that game.
I'm sure the girls are as frustrated (or more) about this whole situation. They will want it more than ever to prove themselves again for 2020.
I STILL BELIEVE AND ALWAYS WILL.
We're coming for you OMAHA.

I think most believe she is coming, but wonder if will she make in this coming year or have to wait til the next. I think most are cautiously optimistic since there is no real confirmation at this point.

Now maybe.....it's because it was all assumed to be good until they actually matched up what she had vs what UT needs. Or maybe it's because she missed time at school playing for Mexico's national team? Or maybe I'm just making stuff up to justify it.
I think with the sudden appearance out of the blue and the leaving the team, school, and the country over Thanksgiving break last year by Katarina Luketic we're a bit leery. Well, I am.

Fields was great on the right not sure why a bunch of people want her moved. I’d rather take the international experienced OH who’s had success against the best teams in the world take the slot and play as a freshman. A lot of people are counting parra out, saying because Williams is hurt that fields will move to the left. New flash : Parra is better than Williams

Yes....but Petersen came in as a true freshman and has been playing ever since. She's playing about the same caliber as her freshman year....maybe even slower?
My rankings of the last liberos to play for Texas:
Sarah Palmer > Cat McCoy >> Petersen
I know people worshiped Cat and so my ranking is heresy. But, maybe I keep thinking back to the 3 tough digs that Sarah pulled off against Michigan in the semis. And to your point, she didn't get that job fulltime until her junior year.
Yeah, it's not that Petersen is bad (although she was shocking vs UCSB). She's just not an A+ athlete. She's basically hit her ceiling already and what you see is what you'll get. For, in my opinion, the most talented offense in the country, you'd really expect a better player in that position. I could list 10 underclass Liberos who aren't just better athletically but are also better passers too. Petersen was just over-rated coming out. I expect her to remain decent but if Texas really wants to speed up that offense, I think it'll be with Nalani Iosia in the off color jersey. Is there VolleyMetrics for national team competition? Could you see how Parra passed while playing for the Mexican national team?

You’re the best.

I wonder if having Davis and Williams coming from the same high school had anything to do with this. Regardless I'm interested to see how the lineup will be affected now. Davis is experienced in the college game, Parra (if she ends up c/o 2020) has international experience, and Williams although coming off an injury can really play too. The second OH is pretty wide open as of now, we'll see what happens next year.

It's official! Capri Davis transfers to Texas!!! This is so big! Nebraska is so crazy for not giving her playing time because she is a great player. I wonder if she will be given a redshirt or would she be a junior? She will be transferring to Texas in January so she must have really wanted out of Nebraska. It's good for Texas because she will play in the spring season which is always good for team chemistry as well as fixing everything that didn't work in the 2019. All in all im very excited about the 2020 season and this is a big grab🤘🏽
