So who are the libero's currently in CA training? Isn't Lake and Hentz still in school? It was just posted Maloney is there. Is White there as well? JWO and Courtney are both with there pro teams til Apr/May? Right now it looks like Maloney, JWO and Courtney will all be there come May. Lake I’m not so sure. She has a lot happening in her life so time will tell if she will be making any rosters this summer.

Idk ab lake either, regardless, at vnls she seemed to be very far away from playing libero on a gold medal team. Courtney wasn’t good but she was still less of liability out there than lake was. JWO and Courtney both played better than lake last summer, so I don’t think she has a very good chance at Tokyo regardless.

I’m not even sure Mary Lake is pursuing volleyball at this point. Getting engaged & family pursuits seem to be front and center for her!

The last day of classes at BYU is in mid-April. I know she's getting married too, and I'm not sure when she's planning to do that, but it could easily be right after the semester ends (very common in Provo) or after the Olympics.

Haven't seen an official post by FIVB yet, but according to Chinese media they will keep the same format of the 25 player wide roster. The plan to reduce the number of players didn't go through due to strong opposition of national volleyball associations and coaches.
However, they will implement a new rule regarding the rosters of the six teams moving on to the final stage. At least 10 of the 14 players for the finals need to have participated in at least 9 matches during the preliminary round and also have contributed a certain amount of playing. Basically no bench riders, the players that meet these requirements will be confirmed by FIVB.

It's a small addition, but it should ensure that teams making the finals will still send a competitive roster. FIVB is also closely monitoring the ongoing coronavirus outbreak in China. Depending on how things fold in the coming months, they may not even host during the preliminary rounds and final.

I wondered how they would address the Coronavirus issue. Nanjing is not that far from the epicenter.
VNL is going to be the tryout for the USA Olympic roster, so the proposal to keep a 25 player roster will keep more players in the mix.

I'm confused on Carlini. Is she not playing that much for Dinamo? Has anyone been keeping up with her professional season this year. What is going on?

Carlini and Dinamo Moscow have not had the best season in both Champions League and in the Russian Super League.
They just wrapped the regular season in Russia and are in 4th and will play home and home quarterfinals matches on Feb 29th and March 7th vs. 5th place Proton. A golden set to 15 will occur in the event of a tie. Dinamo should advance to the semi's.
From there it gets dicey as they will likely come up against league leader Dinamo Kazan who have been doing very well this season. We will see them clash using the same home and home format on March 14th and 21st. This will be a big test. D. Moscow lost to Kazan in both the Russian Cup final and in the regular season.
Add to that Dinamo will be facing Vakifbank in the Champions League quarter finals in home and home matches on March 3rd and 12th. This too is going to be quite a big test for her if she even starts. I don't see them advancing to the semi's here. Vakifbank just has too much talent on their roster.
So basically her entire season could be finished by March 21st unless she somehow drags her team further which I very much hope she does....I just feel that the cards are stacked against her here. Her team just isn't as good since many of the players are aging out and have been on this same team since they were right out of youth leagues.
I'm not so sure it would be so terrible if she got out of there ASAP and got back to Anaheim to train for the OG. The only bad thing is that her chances of signing with a top level club for next season might be in more jeopardy than they are now.

If Hentz is staying on after camp in March she may drop out for a semester to make the Olympics. We will see. She wouldn’t go to camp if that’s not her goal

She's going to the spring training camp because she was invited. It is HIGHLY unlikely that any of the players on that roster will make the OG roster. They are all in the mix for the next quad, however and some may participate in the VNL.
